Catalan defender Rodri is going to play in Salamanca at Segunda Divisi??n until the end of the season, it was the deal reached between both clubs on Wednesday. The ex-Barcelona was loaned to Maritimo in Portugal at the start of the campaign, but he was not playing there.

It hasn’t been the season for Sergio Garc?a Rodr?guez â€?Rodri’, the Catalan defender was loaned at the start of the season to Maritimo Funchal in Portugal, but he never played there wand was even expelled from a training session by coach Lori Sandri due to disciplinary reasons. Deportivo started to search for a new destiny for the Catalan as the Portuguese club warned he would be sent back to La Coru?±a.

And Lendoiro found a quick solution for the ex-Barcelona player. UD Salamanca, a Segunda club that’s currently fighting for the promotion to Primera Divisi??n. The team coached by David Amaral needs a central defender since Sergio Pelegrin suffered a knee injury that will sideline him for a few months, while Havard Nordveidt was left the club on October of the past year.

The loan will last until the end of the season and the economic terms weren’t revealed. This is the fourth loan for Rodri since he joined Deportivo, he spent the season 2006/2007 at UD Almeria, and one year later he was loaned out to Poli Ejido, both clubs were at Segunda Divisi??n at the time. He was presented on Wednesday’s evening and today will start to train with his new squad. It’s even expected Rodri could play a few minutes during the weekend’s game against Real Murcia.
