Sportpaper AS is a reveling that Malaga?s left-back Javi Calleja is a target of Deportivo for the next summer market. According to the source, the Galician club has offered three years to the Madrilenian veteran. Other clubs like Getafe are also interested in the player.

The left side at Deportivo is one of the weakest points at Deportivo, not for the quality of the players that perform there, but due the scarce number of men that can play in those positions. And it’s that Lotina only has Filipe Luis and Andr?s Guardado for that sector. When both men are rested or injured, the Basque coach has to improvise, like when he has put right-footed Cristian on the left wing or the same Piscu at the left-side position in defence.

That’s why the club is studying options in order to reinforce the left side of the squad, and it seems the main target is Javier Calleja Revilla, a 30-year-old veteran that can perform at both positions on the left, side defender and winger. He is a product of Real Madrid youth systems and was know in Spain after spending seven years at Villarreal (1999-2006), club where he usually performed as left winger.

Calleja continued his career at Malaga and on the present season, he has showed an acceptable level at the left-side position in defence. The fact is that he’s ending contract in June, meaning the Madrilenian defender is already free to negotiate with any club he wants. According to Sportpaper AS, Deportivo already presented a three-year offer to the player, proposition that’s beyond the renewal offer of Malaga. Meanwhile, Radio Cadena Ser confirmed the number of years in the offer and also the wages offered to the player: €600,000 per season.

AS also claims that other Spanish clubs, like Sporting Gij??n, Recreativo Huelva, Racing Santander, Getafe, plus some Premiership clubs, have shown interest in the player, but the source also informed that, so far, only Deportivo has presented a concrete offer to the Calleja.

The Madrilenian Sportpaper also reminds that Depor has shown interest in David Garc?a de la Cruz (29), a Catalan veteran that has made his whole career at RCD Espanyol. He’s the second captain of the squad and also ends his contract in June. Lotina knows the player well and it seems his signing is a suggestion of the Basque coach.
