Deportivo Juvenil A suffered a painful defeat against Celta Juvenil A on Sunday at Abegondo (0-2), the result means that Celta is now the champion of Divisi??n de Honor (group one), while Depor’s youngsters will have to be content with the second place and a spot in the Copa Del Rey for Juveniles.

The team of Miguel Angel Devesa will not be able to renew the title of the past campaign in Division de Honor, group one. This after his team suffered the third defeat of the season against the new champion, Celta Juvenil A, game that was played on the last Sunday at Abegondo. Two goals at the start of each half buried the hopes of Deportivo.

Like is happening at Fabril, Devesa was facing the last games of the season with a couple of important casualties. Because Chirri and Juan Dominguez are already part of Depor B, actually the coach played the game with three midfielders that were promoted from Juvenil B for this campaign: Ram??n Otero ?Mon’, Toni and Richi, plus Diego Viela, right winger that was signed from Calasanz on this campaign (the only new incorporation coming from the outside).
Devesa used for the occasion a 4-4-2 figure, Edu Sosa, who was also promoted for this campaign, was the starting keeper. Alberto Valencia the right-back defender, French Karl and Diego Vieytez the central defenders, while Jacobo Lazcano covered the left side. Mon and Toni were organising the game in midfield, Vela was at the right wing, Richi at the left, and the duo in attack was composed by Joshua Corrales and Juan Carlos.

Juvenil A knew it needed the victory in order to keep its chances to repeat the title, but Depor’s youngsters were too anxious and committed a huge mistake at the begging, because Celta took the lead just 20 seconds after the kick-off. Striker Rodri took the ball and faced the goal of Edu without opposition, then he released a shot from mid-distance that hit Karl first and that later went to the back of the net.

The goal just accelerated the anxieties of Deportivo, but the true is that Devesa’s youngster had three clear chances to tie the actions before half-time. The first one at minute 15 as Juan Carlos released a powerful shot from long-distance that keeper Mario sent to corner-kick. Fifteen minutes later, Valencia sent a dangerous cross from the right that hit the crossbar, in the next attack Vela had an attempt to score, but his shot with the heel was saved by Mario.

Juvenil A controlled the game from the start to the beginning, but the true is that Celta always felt comfortable with its role of dominated. Depor was looking dangerous each time Devesa’s players were taking a set-piece, but they never took advantage of the aerial power of players like Karl. At the end of the first half, the public at Abegondo protested because referee Gonzalez Arevalo didn’t whistle a possible penalty over Joshua.

And Depor would pay the price of its lack of aim during the second half, because with just three minutes in the clock, Celta scored the second goal. It was a fast counterattack of the visitors in which Uru was left alone against Edu, the keeper was able to save his team in the first action, but the rebound was reached by Mat?as and he just had to push the ball in.

That goal was a hard hit for Depor, then Devesa decided to risk and he sent Alberto Rendo and Jorge Cano to replace Karl and Toni, with the moves Cano started to attack from the left side, while Richi moved his position to the centre alongside Mon.

Deportivo Juvenil A continued dominated the game and it had new opportunities to score at least one goal, but once again the players missed the chances. Cano was able to score once, but it was invalidated due to an offside. Nano had the best chance of the second half with a mid-distance shot after a corner-kick, but his effort just passed close to the left post. Celta had a couple of opportunities at the end of the game, but Edu saved the team with his interventions.

With three matches still remaining in the calendar, the advantage of Celta Juvenil A is of nine points, Depor still can tie the mark of the team from Vigo, but Celta won the two games on the season against Deportivo, therefore they already won the particular series and they were proclaimed as the new champions of group one. Now Celta will join the other six winners of the other groups during the Champions League tournament that’s played at the end of the season (currently the leaders of the other six groups are Athletic Bilbao, Barcelona, Sevilla, Atletico Madrid, Tenerife and Albacete).

The only thing left for Deportivo is to secure the pass to the Copa Del Rey of this category, this tournament is also played at the end of the season and the participants are the best three teams in each group (28 teams). Right now Juvenil A just needs one point in order to secure the ticket.
