According to newspaper La Voz De Galicia, Deportivo already secured the arrivals of Atletico‚Äôs keeper Iv??n Cu?©llar and midfielder Miguel De Las Cuevas. Both players could be signed in a loan deal including a buyout clause.

Coach Miguel Angel Lotina announced on Friday that Deportivo was already talking with giant clubs Real Madrid and Barcelona plus with Champions League‚Äôs aspirants Atletico Madrid  and Valencia in order to detect young talents that are not enjoying of many opportunities at their clubs. The idea is to bring them to Depor using loan deals that includes a buyout clause, as the case held with Zaragoza for Angel Lafita, example that Lotina gave during the press conference before the liga encounter with Getafe.

And on Saturday, newspaper La Voz De Galicia announced that, ahead of the season 2009/2010, Deportivo already secured the arrival of two players using this formula. These players are keeper Iv??n ‚Ä?Pichu‚Äô Cuellar (25) and midfielder Miguel De Las Cuevas (23). The source claims that the deals for both men are closed since some days ago, and that both consist in loan contracts with Atletico Madrid that will include a buyout option, so far no details have been released about other terms or the amount of the options.

The exit of Mun??a is forcing Deportivo to search for a second keeper, it was expected that Fabril‚Äôs Manu would be the selected choice for the job, but it seems the intentions of the club are to search for somebody else coming from the outside. Iv??n Cu?©llar Sacrist??n, nicknamed Pichu, is a Merida-born keeper that joined the youth teams of Atletico Madrid during the year 2001.

Ex-Coach C?©sar Ferrando gave him the opportunity to debut at the first squad on January 20th, 2005 during a Copa match against Lorca, on May 29 he debuted in liga against Getafe. He was the substitute of Leo Franco for the season 2006/2007 and made six appearances in liga, unfortunately one of those matches was a disastrous 0-6 at the Vicente Calderon against Barcelona FC, match in which Pichu committed several mistakes.

That poor presentation destroyed the credibility of Cuellar and for the following season, he was loaned to Eibar (Segunda Divisi??n). For the season 2008/2009, he was transferred to Sporting Gij??n in a zero-cost operation and signed a four-year deal, but Atletico kept a buyout option, window that Deportivo could now be using in order to secure his arrival.

At Sporting, Cuellar has played 15 games on the present liga season (1,400 minutes) and has allowed 25 goals. But on matchday 14 (December 14), he broke his ankle during a play against Athletic’s Gurpegui. Injury that kept him out of action during four months. Sporting was close to sign Depor’s Aouate as his replacement. Currently Cuellar is already recovered from that injury.

Miguel ?Āngel De Las Cuevas Barber?? is an old wish of Lendoiro, He normally perform as a playmaker, but can also play as a right-winger or even as a right-back (it‚Äôs expected he will play in that position against Valencia). Since some months ago his named has been linked with Deportivo as the replacement of Lafita and according to La Voz, Depor‚Äôs president already succeeded in the mission.

He was born in Alicante and had a brief career at Valencia FC, later he preferred to return home and signed for Hercules CF alternating between the first squad and the Juveniles team. He debuted at the first squad of Hercules at the age of 16 during a Segunda B match against Novelda CF. Then Hercules was promoted to Segunda and during the pre-season 2006/2007, Atletico Madrid signed him for ‚ā¨300,000.

De Las Cuevas was going to be part of Atletico’s first team as coach Javier Aguirre was pleased with his skills, but sadly the player suffered a serious injury on August 13th 2006, something that occurred at the Riazor during the Teresa Herrera. De Las Cuevas damaged the ligaments on his left knee plus a dislocation on the ankle. He was operated and spent one year out of action.

The playmaker finally returned on December 12th 2007 as he played the Copa match between Atletico Madrid and Granada 74, he needed 486 in order to surpass the injury. During the present season, De Las Cuevas has completed nine appearances with Atletico’s squad (269 minutes, only one appearance as starter).
