REBUILDING DEPOR

01 Jun 2009
The season has just ended, but with eleven players in the door out due to several reasons, the club needs to start planning now what to do in the upcoming campaign. So far, one signing is already secured, while other two men seem near to come.

A new metamorphosis is starting at Deportivo, some players are leaving the Galician club after ending their contracts, while others could be released or even transferred. Until this day, it’s sure that goalkeeper Gustavo Mun??a, midfielder Julian De Guzm??n and central defender Pablo Amo won’t continue ahead of the season 2009/2010 as their contracts are ruling out on June 30.

Other three players are also ending contract, but the club still negotiating a possible renewal with them: midfielders Joan Verd?? and Sergio and winger Pablo Alvarez, while still to be seen if Real Zaragoza will fulfill its buyout option over Angel Lafita, player that ended the season as the Pichichi of Depor.

Meanwhile, Cristian already said in public that he will like to be released if coach Lotina won’t be counting with him, while the legal battle with young keeper Fabricio Agosto may leave Depor’s first team without a second keeper.

Finally, central defender Albert Lopo and strikers Riki and Omar Bravo seem to be the most probable transfers during the upcoming summer window. The club already estimated that the 20% of its €59.8 million budget, i.e.  €12 million, will be financed through the sell of players, meaning that these kind of exits are just a matter of survival. It has been also commented that the club may be receiving offers for players like Aranzubia, Guardado or Filipe, but their exit hasn’t been scheduled for the new season, though everything will depend of the amount of the offer.

In resume, at least eleven players may be leaving Depor during the summer, so far three players on this list already know they won’t continue, while the others cases still to be solved. But the club already started to plan the near future. Just a few days before the final matchday, the club secured the arrival of Juliano Roberto Antonello, Juca’ (29), a defensive midfielder that will cover the exit of De Guzm??n. Lendoiro already reached an agreement with his agent and the Brazilian already passed the medicals, therefore he could be presented soon.

Other two men may join the list soon: Goalkeeper Cuellar and playmaker/winger Miguel De Las Cuevas. La Voz De Galicia announced some weeks ago that a loan operation with Atletico Madrid for both players was already negotiated, though the operation may be in danger since Atletico bought Valladolid’s keeper Sergio Asenjo, an operation for €4 million plus two loans of a list that included the name of De Las Cuevas. Therefore, the operation with Depor may be affected in the end.
