Despite that la liga hasnít resolved yet the case with Lafita, it seems that Deportivo is already studying the option of signing a replacement, and the first name mentioned is Belgian Tom De Mul, who is currently out of the plans at Sevilla FC.

Several reports coming from Andalusia appoint that Deportivo is interested in Tom De Mul (23, Sevilla FC), this in order to replace the probable departure of Angel Lafita to Zaragoza. The Belgian right winger and the striker Javier Chevanton were the discards of coach Manolo Jimenez, but the loan deals that Sevilla negotiated until the last minutes of August 31 collapsed.

The intention of Sevilla was to send De Mul in a loan deal to Tenerife, but no final agreement was reached. Now Deportivo might be the solution for all the parts, for the Galician club because it will solve the problem of a replacement for Lafita, for Sevilla because it will solve the problem of having an unhappy player, and for the same De Mul because he will have a clear chance to play with regularity.

But first la liga will have to authorize the exit of Lafita to Zaragoza and also to give a period of time to Depor in order to sign a replacement. Normally this period of time would be of 30 days, but rumours say this time it will only be of 10 days, reason why president Lendoiro is trying to hurry up the options. The name of Giovani Dos Santos was also mentioned, but according to some sources like Estadio Deportivo, Depor will only have the chance to sign a player that currently belongs to a Spanish team.

Newspaper ABC de Sevilla interviewed De Mul on Monday and he was asked about the chance of going to Deportivo, the Belgian admitted that it will be an interesting choice, though he doesnít think the interest is for real, ďNobody has said anything to me, I guess itís not true, I donít know, however it will be a very good option. I donít think the interest is for real, because I would know it by now, I guess.Ē

De Mul was signed from Ajax in July of 2007 in a move valued in £5 million, he signed a 5-year contract, but never found a spot at Jimenezís team and he barely played at the Andalusian squad (9 liga matches), because he was competing against Navas, reason why the winger was loaned to Genk in January of the present year.
