Depor’s coach is warning about Almeria’s necessity ahead of Sunday’s clash, he is also concerned about a possible downfall of Depor after the defeat with Barca. Also, Juca is doubtful for the game due to an ankle sprain.

Coach Miguel Ángel Lotina gave his usual press conference on Tuesday, he was trying to call the attention about the difficulty of Sunday’s game, “Almeria faces a tough situation when it plays at home, but later they made a nice game at the Bernabéu and now they have enough reasons to feel motivated, however I am not worried for Almeria, but for us. Logically we could be facing a downfall point after the game with Barcelona and we need to react.”

“We knew that, after our good straight adding several victories, things would be tough no matter what was going to happen against Barcelona. If we would have won, then we would have been forced to control the euphoria, and as we lost we now need to be careful, because it could give the impression that now we are facing an Almeria that’s down there.” The coach added.

Now, Lotina is focused in the last two meetings of the year 2009, “There are two tough matches ahead of us. Firstly against Almeria, this is a team in need. Later Valencia, which for me is currently the third team in the competition. I would say that even above Sevilla, at least fighting at the same height. We will try to be the same team that we are: serious and worker, and later we will see the results.”

But the Meñaka-born trainer was also talking about the goal of Deportivo for the second round in the competition, “The goal is now to cut the difference that we have with Barcelona on the pitch. Our team made a huge sacrifice against a Barcelona that was playing with all its stars, and in those circumstances it isn’t easy to obtain something. We only made one shot on target, we didn’t create scoring opportunities and no matter we were close to adding a point, Barcelona was very superior.”

Finally, Lotina was practically renouncing to make signings during the winter window, “I can ask the president and he will probably tell me that there’s no money, or maybe I can put a name over the table and turns to be unthinkable. The true is that we aren’t forced to play the Champions (League), therefore we are the club in less need at the moment of making a new signing.”

On Monday it was confirmed that Riki was joining Lassad as the two main casualties for the game at the Estadio de los Juegos Mediterráneos, and on Tuesday it was known that midfielder Juca is also doubtful for the clash. The Brazilian suffered an ankle sprain on Saturday during an action against Pique and wasn’t able to take part of the first training session of the week. Guardado also skipped the session due to a muscular problem (thigh), but the Mexican has bigger options to be prepared for the match against Almeria.
