Deportivo will start the year 2010 with the same injury problems of the past course, and it’s that at least seven players are dragging all kind of injuries ahead of the first clash of the year against Real Zaragoza.

Mista is the first confirmed casualty for the game at La Romareda (apart from Angulo, who is out for three more months), the Murcian attacker didn’t train on Monday and Tuesday due to a groin problem, and will now miss his second game in a row after he suffered a last-minute muscular problem before the home match with Valencia FC. The case is just a continuation of the injury problems suffered by Deportivo within the last month, and it’s that other five players are dragging all kind of problems before the liga meeting.

The main doubts still to be strikers Lassad Nouioui and Riki (both stress fracture); these pair of attackers missed the three liga matches played in December (Barcelona, Almeria and Valencia) curiously Depor wasn’t able to win any of those games. On Monday both men trained with the rest of the team, but didn’t end the session due to precaution reasons, situation that was repeated on Tuesday. Doctors are hoping that the Madrilenian will be fit enough to play on Sunday, but they are more pessimistic about the case of the Tunisian, who might have to wait for the Copa clash with Valencia.

Riki himself told to reporters that he hopes to be fit for the game at La Romareda, “If everything is fine, I hope to be ready to help my team mates, if not as an starter, during the second half, or anytime the coach considers it  as necessary.”

Another doubt is midfielder Juca, the Brazilian has faced a nightmare with the injuries in recent months, he spent a couple of months out due to a thigh problem, and later suffered a bone edema in the outer region of his right ankle during his returning game against Barcelona FC. He joined the trainings on Tuesday’s evening, but didn’t complete the whole session, therefore it isn’t known yet if he will be ready to travel to Zaragoza.

Other two ‘old’ cases are Albert Lopo (knee) and Manuel Pablo (biceps femoral), the defensive duo was already in doubt for the last game with Valencia, but they managed to enter into the list of picked players and even played the fully ninety minutes, but the vacations period didn’t erase their problems, as both didn’t end Monday’s training session due to precaution reasons. The last name to join the list is Sergio, the Catalan midfielder skipped Tuesday’s session due to flu and it isn’t know yet if he will be ready for Sunday.

On Tuesday’s training the main novelties were the presence of Fabril’s defender David Rochela, plus the returns of Brazilians Filipe and Juca, the left-back worked without problems and the midfielder just completed part of the season. Colotto and Guardado didn’t arrive on time, and both will start to train until Wednesday. The only player that hasn’t returned to La Coruña is Brayan Angulo, the left-back has started his recuperation process after a knee ligaments surgery and has permission to return until January 3.

On Tuesday the club announced a mini-stage in Valencia in order to deal with the consecutive visits to Zaragoza and Valencia. On Sunday the Galicians visit La Romareda for la liga and then must travel to Mestalla in order to play the first-leg in Copa Del Rey. Since only 326 Kilometers are separating Zaragoza from Valencia (to return to La Coruña from Zaragoza and then to travel to Valencia means a trip of 1,270 Kilometers), the club decided to make a mini concentration in Valencia.

In this way Depor will train at Abegondo on Saturday’s morning, then it will travel to Zaragoza, after Sunday’s liga match the team will travel to Hotel Oliva Nova Golf in the municipality of La Oliva, which is located near to the city of Valencia. There, the team will train on Monday and Tuesday, then it will play the first-leg at Mestalla on Wednesday and then the squad will return to La Coruña.
