Happiness at Deportivo for the big result a Mestalla, though Lotina is worried about the injuries in the attacking zone and even mentioned the name of Fabril’s Hugo Garcia as a solution. At Valencia, the players still optimistic about their chances.

Coach Miguel Ángel Lotina was more satisfied with the performance of his team than by the final result, “I told you before that the result was important, but there were more important things and in that sense I am pretty satisfied. It was a very demanding game, but we knew it was going to be like this. We made a great game and the players were at an extraordinary level. We achieved a great result against a magnificent rival.”

“It was a challenge to see how we were going to work with so many changes, and I am content with the result, because we defeated the only team, besides Sevilla, that can face Madrid or Barcelona. The doubts at the starting minutes were logical, only Filipe was repeating, the rest, including Manu, were different and it was tough at the beginning. But later everybody was focused and they were fine. That was the main thing worrying me. “ He added.

But what’s worrying now the Basque coach is the situation at the striking zone, “I am worried about the injuries, we are at the limit and only have one available striker at this moment (Adrián). There no one else. Mista, Bodipo, Lassad and Riki are injured. I will speak to Tito Ramallo, because we will have to pull somebody from the B squad, Hugo (García), I don’t know… but I am very concern about this issue, because we still don’t  have a mature striker at the B squad.”

Goalkeeper Manu had a great game, he was admitting the doubts that the team had at the beginning, “The first fifteen or twenty minutes were hard, but we surpassed the situation. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting for a game like this, especially after the tough games against Murcia. They have Zigic and Villa, who represent two very complicate strikers to mark. It’s true that to win outside home is always helpful, but we still have to play 90 minutes.”

Antonio Tomás was content with the performance of the team, but at the same time was feeling sorry for the goal scored by Valencia, “It was a pity to allow a goal, especially since it was after a rebound. We have played at the same height against a great team and it’s something to be content, but a lot still ahead and we still have to play 90 minutes at the Riazor. It was hard at the beginning and Zigic was a serious threat, but we reacted and sought for our opportunities, in the end we materialized our chances. Now we must defeat Osasuna in liga and not lose the track of the top teams.”

Meanwhile, Riki was feeling sorry for his injury, he said that the problem occurred during a foul in which he lifted his leg, “What are we going to do? It is annoying, but I can only try to surpass the problem. My feeling was that I hurt myself, but I hope it will be a small problem, a little tear or a strong contracture. At the beginning I can say that it wasn’t in the same region of the previous injury. It was during a foul whistled against me in which I lifted the leg.”

Also, there was some concern with Filipe, the Brazilian left the pitch with a thigh problem, but later told to reporters that he was fine “It was just because I had a yellow card, not for the blow, I am fine. We surprised Valencia, team that was not expecting for this kind of intensity, but now we must make a perfect match in the returning leg.”

The scorers of the goals were also content, Pablo Alvarez, who was the best player in the game, was pretty happy with the performance of Depor, “Maybe it was one of the best games I have completed at Depor, and all thanks to the work of my team mates.” Meanwhile, Andrés Guardado was more cautious, “We can not rely on the result, and we still have to play the other leg.”

At Valencia and despite the setback, the coach and the players still optimistic about their chances of surpassing the tie, as Unai Emery said, “It's an adverse outcome, but there is a second game to come yet. At 2-1 Deportivo are now favourites and we now think about the game against Xérez but we will not concede this tie. We will do everything in La Coruña to win this round. Deportivo is a team that defends well. We've had chances in a match that was open. They deserved to win."

Similar were the thoughts of midfielder Manuel Fernandes, “We still have faith in passing the round, it is going to be tough, but we still have the chance to achieve the qualification against a complicated team than knows how to defend. If we weren’t optimistic about our chances, we wouldn’t be traveling to La Coruña.”

Finally, Vicente Rodríguez, who played his first official match of the season after returning from an injury, was repeating the speech, “We can still overcome the situation, because there still ninety minutes and as they won on here, either Valencia can do it over there. If we score an early goal, we will have good possibilities to pass to quarterfinals.”
