Depor had until midnight to register a replacement for Filipe Luis, but in the end no movements were made from Plaza De Pontevedra. Asier Del Horno was a clear candidate for the job, but in the end he went to Real Valladolid.

Coach Miguel Angel Lotina will have to face the rest of the liga tournament with what he currently has at his squad. The Basque man requested a replacement for Filipe Luis, who is out of action until the next campaign due to a ankle fracture, but at the same time he was aware of the difficulty of the task due to the financial problems of Deportivo; therefore he said that any new arrival will only “depend on the president”.

The same Lotina said on Saturday that Depor had two candidates for a loan deal, one of them was Asier Del Horno (Valencia FC, 29), actually it was know that the left-back defender talked to Dani Aranzubia, his former team mate at Athletic Bilbao, and expressed his will to sign for Deportivo, but in the end the player was loaned to Real Valladolid.

According to several radios and newspapers, Valencia and Deportivo already had an agreement for the loan, but in the end the deal didn’t take place, because Depor was still trying to solve the demand of RCD Mallorca for the past transfer of Luque. The problem is an unpaid debt of €360.000 that should be completed on the past year, since the Galician club failed to complete the payment, Mallorca denounced the case in la liga and this instance has blocked all the inscriptions until the case is closed. Then Valencia didn’t want to wait and preferred to negotiate with other club.

But president Augusto César Lendoiro denied that Depor wasn’t able to make signings due to this reason, as he told to reporters after the game against Real Madrid, “It can’t be said that we can’t do it, neither the opposite case. If we have any news, which is not easy, we will inform.” He said.

The other name on the list was never revealed, but it was speculated that it was Marcos Alonso (18, Real Madrid Castilla), but Lotina denied this on Saturday. Some sources were appointing to Mariano Pernía (32, Atletico Madrid), left-back that Lotina has always admired, but it was never confirmed if Depor tried to negotiate with Atletico.

No matter the reasons or the names, the truth is that Deportivo didn’t sign any replacement for Filipe, therefore Lotina will have to solve the problem at the left-back position with what he currently has at the first squad, while other solution is to use the youngsters at Deportivo B, like the cases of right-footed Diego Seoane or left-footed players Cristian Valle and Raúl García.

Finally, to explain that since Filipe got injured when the winter window was still open, there’s no chance to sign anybody until the summer, because the rule that allows the inscription of any reinforcement to replace an injured player only applies during the period in which the market is closed.
