A great solo-play of Dioni gave three valuable points to Deportivo B; but the defense of the team also shined as it was able to clinch a second straight clean sheet, now the team leaves the relegation zone and sees the future with optimistic eyes.

Coach Tito Ramallo was still having the casualties of Croatian defender Stefan Deak as he was still missing a residence permission, while Joshua and Richi were out injured, Diego Vela was also out after been sent off in the previous match, Pablo Insua was also out as he was sent to Juvenil A squad. At least David Añon was returning after missing the last game due to tonsillitis.

The formation was a 4-2-3-1 draw, with Diego Rivas at the goal, Seoane at the right-back position, Raul Garcia on the left, while the central defenders were Fran and Rochela; the pivotes were Dani and Dinis, Chirri was attacking from the right wing, Añon did it from the left, the playmaker in the formation was Juan Carlos and Dioni was the central attacker.

Rayo Vallecano B arrived to Abegondo living close to the promotion zone; midfielder Pablo de Lucas is the Pichichi of the team with six goals scored on the Segunda B season.  He was a starter, but Lucas Pérez was out injured; he has five goals scored on the season.

For the first time on the season Fabril was able to clinch three wins in a row, and also two straight clean sheets. But the secret of the victory is in the class of its leading striker: Dionisio Villalba Rojano ‘Dioni’, who scored a sensational goal before half-time to break the boredom of the first part.

And it’s that the first half was a real pain for the people attending to Abegondo; Rayo Vallecano B never showed the credentials that have put them in the fight for the promotion to Segunda A, while Fabril, despite having its best attackers on the pitch, was unable to create a sensation of real danger over the goal of visiting keeper Juan Carlos Martín.

Fabril only had four scoring opportunities within the first forty-five minutes; the first was a wide shot of Dinis (30’), then it was Chirri who missed the target from close range (33’). David Añon attempted from long-range at minute 39, but he also missed the target.

It seemed the half was going to end scoreless, but then Dioni showed the skills of a real killer in a play that he made up by himself. First he stole the ball to Jano, then he ran ten meters to enter into the Madrilenian area and bet Juan Carlos with a drilling shot to his near post, the true is that keeper could have made a better job in order to block the attempt, but in the end the Andalusian scored the decisive goal of the game, which is also his tenth on the season.

Things were different in the second part; Rayo B had more depth and surrounded Fabril’s area, mainly through set-pieces and the appearance of Ghanaian Sthepen Owusu was a real threat for the locals. Ramallo tried to put more legs at midfield and allowed the entry of Martin Büchel for Juan Carlos; the midfielder from Lichtenstein gave more strength to the sector, though the Galicians were still suffering.

And it’s that Fabril wasted two opportunities to define the game, in the first David Añon missed the target in a great counterattack led by Juan Carlos (53’), nine minutes later Chirri had a new opportunity after a new counterattack, but his attempt was saved by visiting goalie Juan Carlos Martin.

Knowing that the narrow score wasn’t securing the victory, Ramallo begun the quest for the second goal, and for this reason he allowed the entry of Jona and Luis Ángel for Chirri and Añon, now the team was playing with a 4-3-1-2 figure, but the second goal never arrived and Fabril had to suffer until the final whistle.

The third straight victory in the league is putting Fabril outside of the relegation zone for the first time in 2011; it was also pleasant to see the team clinching a second straight clean sheet, which demonstrates that the team is finally acquiring the defensive solidity wished by Ramallo. But what defined the game was an extraordinary play of Dioni, which worth the three points. And on next Sunday Depor will have a new big test against another Madrilenian team fighting at the top of the table: Real Madrid Castilla (Alfredo Di Stefano stadium, 17h00 CET), side that has won its last six matches.

Comments of Tito Ramallo: ”The 1-0 brings justice according to what we saw on the pitch. We have added ten of the last twelve points in dispute plus three straight wins. It means tranquility, same thing that the team missed within the last twenty minutes on this game. We had enough opportunities to sentence the game, but we didn’t do it. The team was exhausted, and I can’t ask for more from my players.”
