Deportivo and Athletic enter the match with unaccomplished objectives, and will try to make the best out of a difficult situation. The match comes during a busy week in which the Depor's youngsters, Iago and Carril have confirmed their continuation with the club, while Tristan announce his imminent departure.

Iago and Carril are the new hopes of Deportivo, the youngsters have had a few great matches during the season finish and they are very likely to continue with the first team during next season. But there have been also more disturbing news concerning Diego Tristan. The striker stated that he is not satisfied with his status in the team and that the lack of continuity forces him to look for an exit. "After what happened to me this season, especially the lack of continuity, I think it's best for me to leave. I don't want to go through this again. I know there are people who would like me to stay, but it would be a surprise if this were not my last match at the Riazor", the striker explained.

Even unde these circumstances, Caparros will probably try a very
offensive lineup that includes Tristan from the start. Munitis and Gallardo will probably start on the wings, while Carril will wait for his chance on the bench. With Victor suspended, it is likely that the youngster will play during the second half. The attack will be completed by Iago, Arizmendi and Tristan, a clear sign that Caparros wants to dominate the last match of the season at the Riazor.

In the defensive sector, Coloccini and Duscher are returning from suspention, but the Argentinean midfielder is out injured, meaning that De Guzman will probably partner Sergio. With Juanma injured, Caparros will once again rely on Coloccini and Hector to hold the central defense, while Capdevila and Manuel Pablo will operate on the wings.

With 39 points, Atheltic are on the 13th spot, but only three points away from the relegation zone. The calculations are still very complicated for the Basque team, and it is for this reason that Murillo repeatedly affirmed that his team will look for a win at the Riazor. A win would also guarantee the stay in the Primera regardless of the other results. Coming after a high tension win against Zaragoza, Athletic will probably employ a defensive strategy against Depor, trying to score on the counterattack or from set pieces.

Deportivo still maintain chances of reaching the UEFA directly, but after Sevilla won last night, these chances are very slim. The best hope for Caparros' men to reach Europe is to hold on to the seventh spot and gain Intertoto qualification, which all but gurantees the entry into the UEFA Cup. For this reason, Depor must maintain the distance with Villareal, even though the "Yellow Submarine" has a difficult match against Real Madrid.

Deportivo: Molina; Coloccini, H?©ctor, Manuel Pablo, Capdevila; De Guzm??n, Sergio, Iago, Munitis; Arizmendi, Diego Trist??n.
Athletic: Lafuente; Prieto, Ustaritz, Lacruz, Amorebieta; Murillo, Orbaiz, Iraola, Casas; Yeste, Urzaiz.
