Transfer news

Early in the morning winger Diogo Salomão was passing the medicals, a few hour later midfielder Jesús Vázquez was landing in La Coruña after breaking his contract with Recreativo.

Moved day in La Coruña; early in the morning left winger Diogo Salomão (23) passed the medicals and became the second signing for the season 2011/12 after last’ week incorporation of Ayoze Diaz. Then, during his presentation, president Augusto César Lendoiro talked to reporters about several issues. Finally, the club announced the third signing for the Segunda season: midfielder Jesús Vázquez, who is coming in a free-transfer from Recreativo de Huelva.

The second signing of the new season was confirmed on Tuesday; left winger Diogo Salomão, a Portuguese player that’s coming loaned from Sporting CP (Sporting Clube de Portugal). The operation was announced since Monday, and on Tuesday he was passing the medicals. He was presented during the afternoon. It is a loan operation lasting until June of 2012 without a buyout option.

During the presentation, the winger talked to reporters and said that “I want to say thanks to the president; this chance means a great thing for me, because I have the confidence of the president. I am happy for been here and hope to help Deportivo to reach its goals, which is to reach the Primera División. This is an historic club and its place is at Primera División.”

Salomão also defined his skills as a player, “I hope to be able to play a lot of games and match the expectations. I want to demonstrate the kind of player that I am. I am a little creative, quick, and with a good technique. Those are my main characteristics.”

The president also talked to reporters about other subjects; the main issue is that he was very upset to know that Atletico Madrid is about to sign striker Adrian, “I know that yesterday he was with Gil Marin [Atletico’s advisor] signing some papers in a restaurant in Madrid, though I don’t know the content of those papers. At the time of his arrival we talked to [Real] Oviedo, and now Atletico hasn’t talked to us and that’s stealing.” He said.

About transfer news, Lendoiro confirmed the operation with Jesús Vázquez and said that the midfielder is going to be presented on Wednesday, while the presentation of Ayoze Diaz will take place on Thursday. He even assured that a fourth signing could be arriving before the weekend, though he didn’t want to give more clues.

In other issues, the president confirmed that until Tuesday the club already dispatched 14,000 membership cards to the socios ahead of the season 2011/12, while he attacked once again Racing Santander for its “lies” in the case of Sergio Canales, “The clear thing is that Real Madrid paid 5,500,000 Euros for Canales, and from that we should be receiving 2,750,000 Euros plus taxes. If it’s true that they have paid us what they released in their statement [1.44 million Euros], that by the way they removed from the website a few hours later, then they owe us the rest. So, first pay me and later they can say whatever they want.” He said.

Hours before the presentation of Salomão, the third signing for the season 2011/12 was announced: Jesús Vázquez (31). He is an offensive midfielder with plenty experience at Primera and Segunda División. Depor was chasing the former Recreativo man since some weeks ago, but it was until last night that he was able to break his contract as he needed the sign of one of the judges that manages the bankruptcy case of ‘Recre’.

According to rumours, he had to forgive a debt of €300,000 in order to arrive to La Coruña. The player arrived in the afternoon to the Galician city and will pass the medicals on Wednesday, later in the day he will be presented. He is signing a two-year contract with Deportivo.

Vazquez is an old wish of Lendoiro, an offensive midfielder with the quality and experience to help in the quest for the promotion. His arrival is closing the doors to any new incorporation at this position, because new coach Oltra already counts with Álex Bergantiños, Rubén Pérez and Juan Dominguez for the centre of the pitch.
