Squad news

21 Jul 2011
The first week of July was pretty moved, with three presentations in three days, but nothing more has happened since then and coach Oltra still waiting for the other three signings that he has requested.

It seemed that Lendoiro was pressing the accelerator when, in the first days of July, he presented three signings in a matter of three days. The club was needing a new left-back defender (Ayoze), a new centre midfielder (Jesús Vázquez) and a new left winger (Salomão), and Lendoiro completed the moves in a short period of time.

But there are more pending signings requested by new coach Oltra, mainly the second keeper and the so-wished striker that will score the goals. The third expected arrival is a left-footed player that could perform on the left wing and also at the centre of the pitch. This last arrival depends on the exit of Guardado.

For the moment Riki and Lassad are the only attackers at the squad, tough Bodipo will arrive on Monday, but he doesn’t count for Oltra, while the spot of second keeper has been covered during the training sessions with Fabril’s Marc Martinez and Juvenil A David Gómez.

Despite the lack of news within the last two weeks, all appoints that Lendoiro is moving in order to get the these three signings, on the past week he was in Madrid and it was informed by Radio Galega that he was negotiating with the agent of a player, though nothing happened in the end. The name of that player is a mystery.

The last player linked with Depor has been Mario Gjurovski (25, FK Metalurh Donetsk). He is a Serbian/Macedonian offensive midfielder that according to the media in Serbia has received a loan offer coming from Deportivo.

In other reports it was commented that the Galician club has at least studied 30 videos of strikers, though the preferred option still to be Xisco. On Wednesday Deporte Campeón (DxT) wrote that the future of the Majorcan striker still pending on the offers coming from other clubs, but that sporting director Andrés Bello had rushed the negotiations with Newcastle United.

The point is that the Segunda season starts in one month, while the first friendly match will be played tomorrow, which means that Oltra will not be able to prepare the first matches with a full squad. But for the moment the Valencian coach is quiet with the lack of reinforcements, as he said in his press conference, “We need to have patience as we need to convince the reinforcements first.”
