REVIEW: FABRIL 3 – BERGANTIÑOS 0 (TERCERA)

10 Oct 2011
Deportivo B returned to the warm of Abegondo in order to achieve its fourth straight win at home, result that allows the team to keep leaving at the top places at the standings.

BEFORE THE GAME
Tito Ramallo was having the casualties for injury reasons of Luis Fernandez, David Garcia, Vieytes and Richi, while left-back Ángel Martinez was out suspended after been sent off in the past game. But the coach was recovering Juan Carlos, who didn’t travel with the first team for the meeting with Alcoyano. The playmaker was going to be decisive in this match.

The formation was a 4-2-3-1, with Marc Martinez at the goal, Adriá Gallego performing at the right-back position, Jose Manuel was the improvised left-back, while the central defenders were Pablo Ínsua and Uxio Marcos. Crespo and Adrian Martinez were the two pivotes, Diego Vela was covering the right wing, Víctor Diaz was playing for the first time as starter after surpassing his injury; he was the left winger in the formation, Juan Carlos was the playmaker and Cubillas was the central attacker.

The rival was Bergantiños CF, team coached by Jesús Isolino Baleato and that’s trying to survive at Tercera División. The news was that four of the starters were players that passed by the youth teams of Deportivo: keeper David Yañez, who even played for the first team, midfielder Héctor Garcia, who was part of Fabril on the past season, winger Marcos Moreiras and striker Efrén Rodríguez, without mentioning attacker Miguel Taibo, who was on trial at Depor B during the pre-season.

THE MATCH
It’s evident that Deportivo B feels more confident when it plays at Abegondo; Ramallo’s boys had problems to defeat a tough opponent, but did it with a comfortable 3-0, this time led by the depth of Diego Vela, a dagger at the right wing, and the class of Juan Carlos, who scored a goal and gave an assist to keep been considered as the main reference in attack.

The actions were dominated by Fabril, but Bergantiños had several scoring opportunities throughout the match; actually the first chance was for the visitors as a counterattack led by Moreiras ended with a header of Taibo that missed the target.

Fabril’s first opportunity came with a cross of Victor Diaz that Vela found inside the area to attempt a shot on target, but visiting goalie David Yáñez made the save. Things were equal at the middle of the half until Álex Canedo committed a clear foul inside the area over Vela, the chance was materialized by Juan Carlos from the penalty spot.

Curiously the goal didn’t brought calmness to Deportivo B as instead Bergantiños started to push forward; the visitors had a couple of opportunities, the main one occurred minutes before halftime with a shot of Óscar Toja that just passed close to the post.

Things were looking complicated at the first minutes of the second part as Efrén had a new chance to score through a header that passed close to the crossbar, but ten minutes after the pause Fabril was going to score the second goal. It came after Adriá Gallego released a cross from the right that hit a rival and that went directly into the goal, central defender Pablo Ínsua was there and just had to push the ball in with a header. It’s his first goal on the season and his second official goal with Depor B after scoring in the past liga season.

The second goal killed the fighting spirit of Bergantiños and things were now easier for Fabril, coach Ramallo noticed and allowed the entry of two Juvenil A players, starting with Álvaro Quejeiro, a centre midfielder that began his career at Alevin A and that was now debuting at the B squad. He replaced  Victor, who was exhausted as he still miss match fitness.

Later Iago Beceiro replaced Diego Vela, without doubt one of the two best players for Fabril in the game. The other ‘star’ in the match was Juan Carlos, who showed his class in the third goal making a great solo-play to assist David Cubillas, who just had to push the ball in from close range. It’s the first goal in liga for the Valencian attacker, curiously he has already scored with the first team during the pre-season, but was scoreless with Fabril.

With ten minutes remaining Oltra made the third substitution allowing the entry of Álex Pérez replacing Cubillas, and Iago Beceiro had the chance to score the fourth goal, but he wasted the chance as he tried to chip the ball over Yañez when he was one-on-one against the goalie.

AFTER THE GAME
12 of the 13 points achieved by Fabril on this season had been added at Abegondo, and Ramallo’s team ratified that they feel more comfortable playing at home. The team had problems against a willful Bergantiños, but it solved the issue with the second goal. The victory keeps the team at the top of the standings (6th), though without reaching the promotion spots. On Wednesday Depor B visits CD Estradense, another team fighting to survive (A Baiuca stadium, 17h00 CET)

Comments of Tito Ramallo: ”The team is growing up. Today we were fine with the ball. At halftime I told the boys that I was satisfied, because each day we are more identified with the idea of practicing a combinative football. But it takes time, today I am leaving content and satisfied. Now the pending issue is to improve during the away matches.”
