Oltra is only having the casualties of Manuel Pablo, Guardado and Jesús Vázquez; meanwhile Celta arrives in the middle of its best streak on the season.

Deportivo has been criticized due to its poor performance within the last matches, now the fans hope that the derby can motivate the players, who have been accused of lack of intensity throughout the season. And now coach José Luis Oltra has been boosted by the fact that all his injured players are already recovered

Centre midfielder Borja Fernandez (groin) already received the medical okay and is working at the same pace than the rest of players since the past week, while right-back Manuel Pablo (hamstring) and striker Xisco (muscular) joined the trainings on Wednesday. However, only the Majorcan attacker has received the medical okay, meaning that the Canarian defender will have to wait for another week.

Diogo Salomão didn’t end Wednesday’s training session due to a muscular problem, but on Thursday he was working at the top and should be a starter; therefore Oltra only has the casualty of Manuel Pablo for injury reasons, and it must be emphasized that he should get the medical okay on next week; to remember that at the beginning of October Depor’s coach was facing the competition with up to eight casualties per match.

Anyway, Oltra is having other two casualties for the derby; the first is Andrés Guardado, who will play today a friendly match between Mexico and Serbia; the club tried to liberate him from this compromise, but in the end the football federation of Mexico didn’t allow it arguing that “there are only three free dates before the start of the World Cup qualifiers and the national coach needs to adjust some things with the team.”

The other casualty is centre midfielder Jesús Vázquez, who saw his fifth yellow card of the season in the past match with Real Murcia. Both are important casualties at Deportivo as both men are normal starters in the lineups of Oltra.

It is expected that Juan Dominguez and Saul Fernandez will claim the stop empty spots at the starting eleven, though Oltra has said that he has several options; he even admitted the possibility of giving a chance as starters to Bruno Gama and Borja Fernandez, but it seems improbable as both men are just coming out from injuries, actually Borja has not even debuted yet wearing the Blanquiazul shirt.

Signboard of the Riazor Blues on Thursday at Abegondo: the derby is not to play… is to win.

Meanwhile, Celta is arriving to the Riazor strengthened after clinching four straight wins, reason why they are currently living inside the promotion zone, but coach Paco Herrera is having two casualties for the derby: central defender  Andrés Túñez and right-back Hugo Mallo, the first was picked by the national team of Venezuela for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers, while the second was picked by Spain’s U-21 squad. Only Mallo is a normal starter.

Centre midfielder Natxo Insa was doubtful due to a muscular problem sustained on Wednesday, but it has been informed that he should be fit to play on Sunday, while Borja Oubiña missed the past match with Cartagena due to a muscular injury, and now he´s fit to play and it’s even commented that he will be a starter. Herrera already said that he will reveal his lineup on Saturday.

Winger Iago Aspas has been on the spotlight after his polemic declarations; it was commented that coach Herrera could be thinking in leaving him on the bench for the derby, but on Thursday Celta’s trainer told to reporters that he talked to the player and that isn’t thinking in a punishment, after all Aspas is the top-scorer at the team with seven goals added to his tally, including four within the last four matches.

A concern at both clubs for the game is the referee designated by the LFP: Fernando López Acera. He was the same referee that sent off Colotto and Laure before the 30-minute mark during the visit to AD Alcorcón. He’s a temperamental referee used to show a lot of cards –he already showed 36 in his six matches of the season- which could be a factor taking in mind that this is a derby.
