Oltra is losing Riki and Morel for Sunday’s match at the Martinez Valero stadium, but at the same time the Valencian coach recovers Guardado and Jesús Vázquez. Elche has three absences for the clash.

The emptiness at the injury room only lasted a few days at Deportivo; Riki only lasted twelve minutes in the match with RC Celta and on Tuesday it was confirmed that he sustained a tear in the adductor muscle of his left thigh, it was also announced that the injury will keep him at bay for at least three weeks. It’s the 19th muscular injury of the Madrilenian after joining Deportivo.

Another striker with problems is Xisco; he just joined the trainings on the past week after surpassing a muscular problem, but on Wednesday the Majorcan attacker was working at the gym as he was having a new muscular injury (quadriceps). In any case it’s expected that he will rejoin the trainings on Thursday. It means new problem for an attacking line that only has Lassad and Bodipo as backups.

The other injury case hitting the team is Claudio Morel, the Paraguayan left-back didn’t play in the derby, but on Monday he sustained a tear in a muscle of his left hip, an injury that will sideline him for at least three weeks.

The good news for Oltra is that he is recovering Andrés Guardado and Jesús Vázquez; Mexican Guardado returned from international action on Tuesday and was training at the top during Wednesday, while Vázquez is returning after a suspension.

One of the questions ahead of the clash with Elche CF (Sunday, 12h00 CET) is who will compose the couple at midfield; Juan Dominguez made a nice job against Celta and Oltra could be thinking in keeping him at the centre of the pitch, which will lead to choose between Álex Bergantiños and Jesús Vázquez as his partner for the pivote functions.

At Elche, coach José Bordalás is recovering playmaker Pedro José Pinazo ‘Perico’ and left-back Gregory Beranger. Perico has missed the last two matches due to a muscular injury, while French Beranger was replaced at half-time of the past meeting with FC Cartagena (1-1) due to a thigh problem; both men were already training at the top during Wednesday’s session. Defender Héctor Verdés and midfielder Miguel Palanca are also available after their suspension.

But Bordalás will have three casualties for the meeting with Depor;  the first is left-back  José Eduard Albácar, who’s suspended after picking his fifth yellow card of the season in the match against FC Cartagena, while the injured players are centre midfielder Javier Paños (toe) and long-term case David Generelo (knee). Elche arrives to the meeting in the middle of a positive streak as it has added seven of the last nine points in dispute, reason why they are only two points behind Deportivo.

Despite there’s no rivalry between Depor and Elche, there was already an exchange of declarations; first Elche’s striker Jordi Xumetra told to Sportpaper AS that, “Deportivo has players that sometimes are just walking on the pitch, and you can’t afford that in this league.”. A few hours later Saul Fernandez, a former player of Elche, answered that, “I'm sure nobody is playing just walking on the pitch, and I'm sure neither Elche plays just walking around; we must respect all the rivals."
