CRISTIAN SIGNS WITH DEPORTIVO

28 Jun 2006
Cristian Hidalgo became the sixth reinforcement for the 2006/2007 season when he signed a contract with Deportivo yesterday. The Catalan is an offensive player who can perform as striker, winger and even as a playmaker. It's speculated that he will cover the right wing in Caparr??s' squad. Cristian signed a four-year contract.

During the presentation Lendoiro said that the club selected Cristian because he is a skillful player who has the capacity to score goals. Depor's president also confirmed that the Catalan player arrived for free, but as an exchange Barcelona will receive 30% of any future sale.  It was also confirmed that Barcelona does not have a buyout option over the winger.

Cristian said during his presentation that he hadn’t spoken to Caparr??s yet, but that he would be fine in any position that the Sevillan coach decides: "I am OK in any position, although I prefer performing on the right wing or as a playmaker." The Catalan also had praise for Caparr??s. "He is a coach who works hard, but at the same time he still trusts youngsters as he demonstrated at Sevilla. He was the one who gave the opportunity to Sergio Ramos, something he’s already done here with Iv??n Carril."

He also hopes to do a good job with Deportivo.  "I have already played in La Coru?a since I came here with Barcelona for some friendlies and pre-season encounters. This is a big step for me and I want to fulfill my duty." Cristian and his agent (Rafa Anguita) returned to Barcelona after the presentation. The player will be ready to travel with the first squad for the pre-season stage in Isla Canela.

CAPARROS TALKS
Coach Joaqu?n Caparr??s talked to radio station Cadena SER and gave a lot of clues about the team that he is preparing for the next season. First of all, he said that there will be four or five more signings in addition to the six new players who the club has purchased (Pablo Alvarez, Cristian, Bodipo, Riki, Lopo and Juan Rodr?guez). Specifically he is waiting for a goalkeeper, a central defender who can also perform on the left side, a new striker and a right winger.

Caparr??s also affirmed that Taborda will continue in the squad and that he believes that Cristian will do a good job on the right wing. The Sevillan coach also showed his satisfaction with the squad that Lendoiro is building. The pre-season in Isla Canela was also described.  Caparr??s said he expects to have 24 or 25 players during this stage and that Juanma and Pablo Alvarez won't be there since they are injured.

Finally Caparr??s confirmed that he expects a lot of changes in Fabril. The only player who will be promoted to the first squad is Iago.  Other promising players like Xisco and Iv??n Carril will be loaned out to Segunda clubs or even to other Primera teams.

Meanwhile, canaldeportivo.com reports that eight players will be promoted to Fabril: Fabricio, Adri??n, Juan, Lucas, Moreiras, Herbert, Meijide and Aridane. Five players will be released from the club: Xavi Seco, Ram??n, Antonio, Dani Cancela and David Y???ez.

JUANMA WILL BE OUT FOR TEN WEEKS
Yesterday Juanma went through surgery to correct his pubalgy. This injury led to his absence in the last few matches of the season. The club also announced that he is expected to be out of action for eight to ten weeks. For this reason he won't be part of the pre-season training in Isla Canela.
