The club finally released a statement: there was no agreement with Sporting Clube de Portugal for the signing of centre back Alberto Rodriguez. Meanwhile, Abel Aguilar is on his way to Rayo Vallecano.

After three days waiting for news the club finally released a press statement regarding the case of Alberto Rodriguez; the Peruvian centre back was signed two weeks ago in a loan spell lasting one year, but he failed the medicals, later the club tried to negotiate new conditions with its parent club, Sporting CP, but no agreement was reached.

On Saturday’s night the club decided to cancel the negotiations and then the club made the official announcement. Despite failing the medicals the statement of Deportivo assures that Rodriguez is “in conditions to play football at all levels”. The club blames a “lack of understanding” with Sporting CP as the cause of the failed signing.

Now Depor is officially out searching for two central defenders; the exit of David Rochela to Racing Santander is leaving coach Oltra with only two centre backs: Aythami Artiles and Ze Castro. On Saturday, Marca was linking the club with Jardel Nivaldo (26, SL Benfica), another South American defender performing in the Portuguese league.

Meanwhile, Abel Aguilar (27, Hércules CF) is on his way to Rayo Vallecano; just two days ago the Colombian midfielder was inches away of sealing a loan deal to Deportivo, but the Madrilenian club came from nowhere and offered to pay the full wages of the player (€700,000), while Depor was only offering to cover half a million Euros. The deal between Rayo Vallecano and Hércules should be official in the coming days.

It isn’t clear yet if Deportivo is going to attempt the signing of another centre midfielder, what’s clear is that the Galician club is also searching for at least one striker in the market; this since Oltra only has Riki and Bodipo at the squad. Actually, it’s speculated that Lendoiro will try to sign two new forwards in the coming days.
