It seems that the last signing of the season is a matter of time, though Deportivo has been linked with four different strikers. The choices for now are Christian Stuani, Nicola Žigić, César Santin and Carlos Muñoz.

President Lendoiro stated in past days that the club is ready to wait until the last minute in order to secure the arrival of the last signing, the “different striker” wished by coach Oltra.  However the club is now pushing hard in order to sign this player as soon as possible, even before the debuting game against Osasuna.

The main candidate continues to be Christian Stuani (25, Reggina Calcio). Two days ago the Uruguayan attacker admitted contacts with the club and on Saturday Sportpaper Deporte Campeón announced that Depor have advanced negotiations with Reggina for the loan of the player. The source even understands that the operation might be closed before Monday.

But Deportivo has been linked with other three strikers: Nikola Žigić (31, Birmingham City), César Santin (31, Copenhagen) and Carlos Muñoz (23, Colo Colo). Serbian Žigić was close to join RCD Mallorca, and on Saturday newspaper La Opinión de Mallorca informed that Deportivo has contacted Birmingham in order to sign the player. But this is a complex operation, the striker earns €1.7 million and neither Mallorca nor Depor are prepared to pay his wages, not even the half.

The other two strikers were related with Deportivo by journalist Gonzalo Soto from Radio Galega. Santin is a Brazilian attacker that has spent the last eight years playing in Sweden and Denmark, while Muñoz is a promising Chilean attacker that scored 14 goals in 37 matches with Colo Colo.

Soto didn’t know if the club could be negotiating a transfer of a loan; he just reported that Depor was in contacts with both players; even that the agent of Muñoz is in Madrid trying to make a final decision on the player’s future. On Saturday the journalist from Radio Galega asked Oltra regarding Muñoz, the coach neither confirmed nor denied the  interest, but the agent of the player, Andrea Bagnoli, ruled out any ongoing negotiating with Depor.

Bagnoli talked to Terra Deportes and said that, ”Depor is a great club, but so far I don’t know anything of that club. I haven’t been informed of any interest of that club. I just can tell you that there’s an offer coming from Pescara. Colo Colo is thinking of it and surely there will be a response within the next two or three days.”

All the rumours suggest that Deportivo is accelerating the negotiations in order to hire the new striker as soon as possible, at the same time it gives the impression that the club hasn’t chosen yet the striker that will be signed as there are four possibilities that remain open; in any case the transfer window closes its doors until August 31, so the club still has two weeks in order to close this incorporation.
