First reinforcement for Deportivo in the winter window: Sílvio Pereira; he’s a right-back that can also perform at the left side of the defense. The Portuguese will undergo the medicals on Thursday and will bes the 7th side defender at the team.

Another Portuguese player is joining Deportivo: Sílvio Manuel de Azevedo Ferreira Sá Pereira, a 25-year old side defender that searching for minutes in la liga. The operation was announced on Wednesday’s afternoon by canaldeportivo, though the player still has to undergo the medicals and Depor still have to clarify the full details of the operation. It was firstly commented that he’s arriving loaned until the end of the season, though there’s also the rumor that it could be a final transfer.

Sílvio is a right-back defender that can also perform on the left; coach Domingos Paciência knows his as the Portuguese defender was at SC Braga during the season 2010/11. He was transferred to Atlético Madrid in June of 2011 in an operation that cost €8 million, but he never managed to earn a spot at the starting team.

He only played nine games on the pas Primera season, 8 of them before the arrival of Simeone. After the arrival of the Argentine coach the Portuguese right-back has barely counted; this season he was close to go out loaned, but stayed and have only completed one appearance performing for 75 minutes in the opening matchday against Levante UD; after that he only played in both legs in Copa against Jaén and in the Europa league visit to Hapoel Tel Aviv.

The curious thing is that Sílvio is the 7th side defender at Depor’s squad; it could lead to the exit of Tiago Pinto, who barely played with Oltra. He also represents the 8th Portuguese player at the first team, Roderick already left the club, but there are other seven Portuguese players at the squad: Ze Castro, Tiago Pinto, André Santos, Pizzi, Salomão, Bruno Gama and Nélson Oliveira.
