ARANZUBIA & ZE CASTRO AT THE DOOR OUT

05 Jul 2013
Coach Fernando Vázquez confirmed that Dani Aranzubia and Ze Castro are close to leave Deportivo; ‘El Profesor’ also assured that Bruno Gama will stay at the club and that he will be and important asset ahead of the Segunda campaign.

It was already know that goalkeeper Daniel Aranzubia was at the door out; the renewal of German Lux was made because the Argentine goalie is going to be the starter at Segunda replacing the Riojano, mainly because his wages are unaffordable for the club.

But what was a surprise is that centre-back Ze Castro is also at the door out. It is a surprise, because the player signed a renewal in January –a contract lasting until 2017- while his agent told to Radio Cadena Ser back in June that the defender was wishing to stay.

Coach Fernando Vázquez confirmed that both players want to leave, “The only undefined issues are Aranzubia & Ze Castro; we are searching for a solution. Both want to leave and the club is careless due to their wages. They will be with us on Friday, but I would love to go to the stage in Monforte [July 15] with these issues already solved, in one way or the other.”

Vázquez made this statement during a book presentation in the town of Monte Alto [a book related to the club called “Depor Vida”] The exit of Ze Castro could be joined by the exit of Aythami, who was also mentioned as a possible exit. Their casualties could be covered with the re-signing of Kaká and the promotion of Pablo Insua.

Later, on Thursday, website Riazor.org contacted the agent of Ze Castro, Nuno Patrao, and he confirmed the news, though he said that it isn’t a desire of the player, ”The true is that he doesn’t want to leave Deportivo, but the financial situation is though and he’ll have to leave. His desire was always to stay, that’s why he signed the renewal. Still, it isn’t definitive that he’s leaving. He would love to stay in A Coruña. This is his home and has a life over there, but the situation is like this and he doesn’t want to be a problem. The delicate financial situation at the club is forcing him to leave. For now there are some options at Primera, some in Europe and less chances in Portugal.”

About the situation at the goalkeeping position the coach explained that, ”I’m calmer now that Lux has signed. I’m happy. These are great news for Deportivo. We are studying what will happen with the position. There’s the chance we can sign a second goalkeeper, but we also have Marc [Martinez]. It isn’t a priority. We have well covered this position.”

The other announcement made by Vázquez is that right winger Bruno Gama will stay ahead of the Segunda season, ”He (Bruno Gama) will be with us, that’s for sure. Nobody has told me other thing; neither the club nor him. He will compete with us at Segunda and will do it at the top.”. Previously the club has already stated through Depor Sport that the intention of Deportivo is to keep the Portuguese winger.

Finally, Vázquez asked for patience as Deportivo are starting to move in the market, ”We are talking with several players. We are there, in the fight. We cannot be nervous. We must be relaxed; the opportunities are showing up now. Let’s see if we are capable of getting something interesting, something that can give us a plus and a special hierarchy at Segunda. It won’t be easy, but we’ll try. We only have a few players, but already have a team. We are missing strikers.”
