The club’s administrators have finally accepted the signing of Borja Bastón. The striker will undergo the medicals today and will join the trainings. The club is still pending to sign a second striker.

Borja González Bastón is finally joining Deportivo. Two weeks ago the Galician club and Atlético Madrid reached an agreement for the 21-year-old striker, but his arrival was blocked as Depor were exceeding the salary cap established by the LFP. It was necessary to allow the exits of Aythami and Paulo Assunção in order to release some space.

Borja is a promising striker that has been growing at the academy of Atlético Madrid and that spent the last two seasons playing loaned at Real Murcia and SD Huesca. The deal with the Madrilenians isn’t clear yet, last week president Lendoiro said that it was a complex deal that includes an exchange with some players from Depor’s academy. He will undergo the medicals and will be presented this afternoon, then Lendoiro will explain the details of the operation.

This is one of the petitions of coach Fernando Vázquez as he was urgently requesting for two strikers in order to fill the striking position together with Luis Fernández. The other striker that was targeted by Depor is Alex Geijo, but he is still trying to solve his tax issue with Udinese Calcio.

Lendoiro has stated within the last two weeks that Depor already has an agreement with the player and his club, but that Geijo won’t join the team until solving this problem. The latest rumour is that Lendoiro already warned Udinese that he will activate a second choice if they don’t solve the problem now.

About other signings, Depor are open to get a new centre-back and a new right winger, but these two options are secondary, before closing any deal the club needs to fulfill the salary cap rule. Currently Lendoiro is trying to get a new increase in the limit. The arrivals of the new players, apart from the two strikers, will depend on these negotiations.
