Positive debut for Deportivo B, once again playing in a synthetic turf and this time with an almost new team. New signing Cañi and Álex Pérez scored the goals. Romay also shone during his return to Depor B.

If the first team is under construction then the same can be said of Deportivo B, because the youngsters that are with Fernando Vázquez team hadn’t allowed coach José Luis Devesa to close his own team. Bicho and Dani Iglesias played in the game against Córdoba CF and weren’t picked for this match, neither Uxío despite he didn’t play the game.

In this way it was possible to see players like Óscar García as part of the list for this game. He’s a playmaker coming directly from Juvenil B. Totally, five players were debuting with the B team: David Gómez, Jorge Callón, Aarón Rama, Óscar García and Jesús Cañizares ‘Cañi’.

The draw was the typical 4-2-3-1, with David Gómez at the goal, Callón is a centre-back that this time played as the improvised right-back defender, Aarón performed on the left and Sidibé was also replaced playing alongside Róber at the centre of the defense. Teles and Adrián Martinez were the centre midfielders, Óscar played on the right wing, Cañi did it on the left, Romay was the playmaker and Álex Pérez was the central attacker.

The rival in the debut was SD Grixoa, a club from Santiago de Compostela that’s completing their first season at Tercera. It’s a curious case as in the past the players were normally workers of the company Alcomte Galicia, whose owner is also the president of the club. Coach Jesús Moure sent a 4-2-3-1 squad with David Nogueira and Andrés Calderón as the references in attack. Ex-Juvenil A Brais Calvo is part of the team and entered during the second half.

Fabril ended last season fighting for the promotion playing on the road at synthetic pitches, and it had to debut at Tercera under the same circumstances during the visit to the Santa Isabel stadium, a new installation in what was the old pitch of SD Compostela. And Depor B found the same opposition than during the playoffs: a well planted team that gave problems in the first part, but that fell down in the second.

And it’s that Grixoa impressed during the first part, incisive with Jacobo Tato on the right wing and with a midfield territory that was putting a lot of pressure, just two minutes after the kick-off Tato released a strong cross that Miguel Chenel connected at the far post and into the net, but the goal was disallowed due to a controversial offside call.

The locals were well planted on the pitch and Fabril had problems to create scoring opportunities, actually their only clear chance in this half was a direct free-kick of Cañi that passed close to the post (22’). Still, it was a warning of what the new signing of Fabril was going to do in the second part.

Grixoa had one more opportunity to claim the lead in the first part, this after a great play of David Nogueira that ended with a drilling cross that striker Andrés Calderón sent wide when he was alone before David Gómez (33’).

One of the problems at Fabril was that the line of creation was playing towards the centre, so Devesa decided to expand their position for the second part. And it was noticed as Fabril had more depth and therefore the team created more scoring opportunities. On this half Romay and Cañi  were the guides of the team, with Óscar García providing a couple of interesting passes to Álex Pérez.

In this way it came the first big chance in the half for Depor B, Romay begun the play and he assisted Óscar García and then his headed pass when into the path of Álex Pérez, but the striker didn’t seize the opportunity as he sent the ball out from close range (55’).

But Fabril was going to claim the lead just four minutes later, it was through Cañi with a new free-kick attempt that this time ended at the back of the net. It was a curved shot that beat the wall and that was impossible for local goalie Brais Midón. After the goal Grixoa pressed a lot and Jacobo Tato was close to equalize the score in a one-on-one action before David Gómez (68’).

It seemed Fabril was going to suffer within the last fifteen minutes, but the team secured the victory after Aarón assisted Álex Pérez inside the area, then the striker scored after eluding a rival and placing the ball with a drilling attempt. Devesa used the last ten minutes to allow the modifications, in this way winger Juampa Barros and fullback Ángel Fernández debuted replacing Álex Pérez and Aarón.

Álvaro Queijeiro also entered replacing Óscar García. Grixoa scored at the stoppage time after an error at Fabril’s defense, David Nogueira stole the ball from Callón with Sidibé misplaced, then he ran towards the area easily surpassing Róber to drill the ball into the net. There was no time for more.

Deportivo B begun the new season at Tercera with a victory in the tricking visit to SD Grixoa; there were some new faces in a team that still to be defined, one of them was Cañi, who was the scorer of the first goal. The team suffered in the first part and later improved in the second to secure the points. On Sunday the team will host Cultural Areas at Abegondo (12h00 CET).

Comments of Devesa: ”I am content with the three points, it’s always important to start with a victory. The idea for new campaign is the same, this synthetic turf isn’t useful to practice combinative game, because it helps the work of the rival. We made some changes at half-time and it brought more fluidity. This year the project is different and the goal is to aspire to everything. We need to polish some things and must continue working.”
