Third game in liga for Depor; Fernando Vázquez is picking Borja Bastón and Luisinho for the first time. The lineup will be similar to the one saw at the Teresa Herrera. The rival is having a lot of problems with the injuries.

Deportivo have always faced problems visiting both the old and the new Creu Alta stadiums, because the Galicians suffered 17 defeats in the 27 visits made to CE Sabadell CF playing for Primera or Segunda División. Los Blanquiazules have only won three times there. The last opportunity was a 1-2 win at Segunda with Arsenio Iglesias as the head coach and with mythic José Luis Varas and José Manuel Traba netting the goals (Aug 05, 1983).

Two years ago Depor played at the Nova Creu Alta with the normal starting formation that clinched the promotion to Primera and that also established a new mark of points at Liga Adelante, and turned to be a flat game for the Galicians as they lost 0-1, it was one of the nine defeats on that campaign. Actually, that loss cut the historic rally of nine straight victories that put Oltra’s Depor at the top of the standings.

The Catalans were dragging a negative home record from last season as they only won two of their last seven matches played at their stadium, though they had a great start on this campaign with a demolishing 4-0 win over RCD Mallorca, another of the recently relegated teams. It was also the second time in almost three years in which they score four goals in one single league game , the previous time was a 4-0 win over CD Denia playing at Segunda B (Dec 19, 2010).

Left-back defender Luisinho and striker Borja Bastón have been included for the first time into a list for an official game. Both players were starters against Real Madrid and left a positive impression, especially the Madrilenian striker. However, only the Portuguese full-back has solid options of been a starter in this game, this since Ayoze Díaz is at the door out and there are no more left-backs available at the team.

In the case of Borja, he will be on the bench waiting for a chance, this means that Luis Fernández will be the starting striker for the third straight opportunity. These two players will be fighting for minutes as Depor wait for the arrival of the “chief striker” that’s highly expected by coach Fernando Vázquez.

The predicted lineup for this clash is almost the same one that faced Real Madrid in the Teresa Herrera, with the only exception of the striker’s role and the doubt of one of the centre midfielders. German Lux remains defending the goal, Laureano Sanabria ‘Laure’ performs at the right-back position, Luisinho plays on the left, while Kaká and Pablo Insua are the centre-backs.

The doubt is who will join Juan Dominguez at midfield territory. Polish Cezary Wilk was the starter against Real Madrid, but Álex Bergantiños also has options of playing. The right wing is for Portuguese Rudy, the left is for Ángel Arizmendi, while Juan Culio returns from suspension in order to perform at the playmaker’s role. Finally, Luis is the central attacker.

Álvaro Lemos is the only player staying at the injury room; centre-back David Rochela and left-back Ayoze Díaz weren’t picked as they are pending to solve their exits from the club, while right-back Diego Seoane wasn’t included in the last for tactical reasons.

Before the game, Juan Dominguez talked of the rival and the adaptation of the new signings, ”It won’t be an easy game because they are a great team and besides they are playing at home. At our side we need to see the new ones getting used to the team. It isn’t the same to play alongside a player that you already know than to do it with someone you don’t. With the passage of the days there will be a better understanding. We must adapt as soon as possible, because we cannot lose points.”

List of picked players (18): Lux, Fabricio (goalkeepers); Laure, Manuel Pablo, Insua, Kaká, Uxío, Luisinho (defenders); Álex Bergantiños, Juan Domínguez, Wilk, Juan Carlos, Culio, Bicho (midfielders); Luis, Rudy, Arizmendi & Borja Bastón (strikers).

Many eyes were on little CE Sabadell CF as during the summer it was announced that Japanese company E-PLUS-U was buying the 51% of the club’s shares paying €2.5 million. At the time they said that the intention is to take the club to Primera División and to transform it into one of the three most popular Spanish clubs in Japan. They even suggested the possibility of building up an academy for Japanese young players.

But for now the only goal is the permanence and the club will continue with its solid policy of avoiding the debts. For this reason they are building a humble team without big signings. They lost top-scorer Manuel Lanzarote, but at least kept their second Pichichi of last season, Anibal Zurdo (10 goals).

And the main problem for new coach Javi Salamero is the large number of injuries that are hitting the team since the pre-season. Currently seven players are on the sidelines: Centre-backs Raúl Goni (knee ligaments), Jesús Olmo (Achilles) and Pablo Ruiz (leg fracture), centre-midfielders Antonio Hidalgo (Soleus) and David Arteaga (hamstring), left-back Víctor Espasandín plus winger Juanjo Ciércoles (knee).

Goalkeeper Nauzet Pérez is just coming back from a back problem while winger Juan José Collantes was dragging a knock from last game against Ponferradina. On Friday he was ruled out of the game, but on Saturday he was included in the list for the match, though it isn’t sure if he’s fit to play, for this reason the list of picked players is composed by nineteen men.

It means big problems for a coach with a limited squad, it moved him to pick three players from the B squad: midfielders Yeray Sabariego and Antonio Gómez, plus left-back Joan Noguera. Besides, centre-back Martí Crespí was included in the list. He was signed just three days ago coming from Racing Santander.

In any case the problems didn’t prevent the Catalans of achieving the big win over RCD Mallorca on the first matchday.  So, the idea of coach Salamero is to repeat the 4-2-3-1 formation of the past weekend. The only doubt is if Collantes will be fit to play.

Captain David Navas is the starting goalie, Catalan Toni Lao performs at the right-back position, Madrilenian Javi Barral covers the left sector, while the centre-backs are ex-Córdoba Kike Olivas and former Zaragoza B Carlos Hernández.

Centre-back Cristian García performs as an improvised centre midfielder joining Japanese Sotan Tanabe. Then, Juan José Collantes will attack from the left wing if he’s fit to play, if not the spot should be for Edgar Hernández, who is a recent signing coming from Sant Andreu. Ex-Real Zaragoza Antonio Longás covers the left flank. Ex-Villarreal B Fernando Llorente is the playmaker and Anibal is the central striker.

Cristian García commented before the game that it’s good to face Depor at the beginning of the season as the Galicians aren’t settled yet, ”We have seen that the teams going down to Segunda face a tough period to get used to the league, we saw it two weeks ago with Mallorca and we must seize the occasions too against Depor. We are conscious that we weren’t fine last week and we didn’t match the expectations as it should have happened.”

List of picked players (19): De Navas, Nauzet Pérez (goalkeepers); Martí Crespí, Cristian García, Carlos Hernández, Toni Lao, Javi Barral, Kiko Olivas, Joan Noguera (defenders); Sotan, Roberto López ‘Ruper’, Collantes, Longás, Llorente, Yeray Sabariego, Antonio Gómez, Joan Noguera (midfielders); Gato, Aníbal & Edgar (strikers)

Deportivo: (4-2-3-1) Lux – Laure, Insua, Kaká, Luisinho – Álex or Wilk, Juan Dominguez – Rudy, Culio, Arizmendi – Luis.
