The sorrow at Abegondo continues as Fabril remain winless, this time dropping the victory at the last second. After a boring start the final minutes at both halves were highly entertaining. The goal of Iago Beceiro was only worth a point.

Coach José Luis Devesa recovered centre midfielder Paulo Teles and centre-back Uxío Marcos; the first was on the bench for the clash against CD Numancia, but since he didn’t have minutes with the first team he was sent back to Depor B. Bicho was also back after surpassing an ankle sprain. Still, there were important casualties; left-back Aarón Rama, midfielder Sidibé and  playmaker Remeseiro were out injured. Jorge Romay was serving the last of is four matches of suspension. Juvenil A midfielder Gabi Sanin Peillet was picked for the second time.

The draw was a 4-2-3-1. David Gómez was the starting goalie, Toni Insua performed at the right side of the defense, Adrián Martinez did it on the left, while Róber and Uxío were the centre-backs, Álvaro Queijeiro and Teles were the centre midfielders, Iago Beceiro attacked from the right wing, Cańi did it from the left, Bicho was the playmaker, while Dani Iglesias was the central attacker.

The rival was Racing Vilalbés, another team having a discrete season, with only one win within the last five games. David Páez was fired and the replacement coach is Carlos Díaz, 'Charly', who starred the best moments of the club a few years ago. Ex-Depor Efrén Rodríguez was the starting striker and the main threat for Fabril’s defense on this game.

Fernando Vázquez stated during the week that he wasn’t counting with the Fabril’s players during the training sessions as the B team was going through a negative streak. It seems they could stay there for a while as Depor B chained a seventh straight match without victories. The true is that the team showed a better face this time, more incisive in attack, though missing punch.

The first half an hour was totally boring; Fabril had the ball possession, but missed to create scoring opportunities. The best player for the locals was Javier Fernández Abruńedo ‘Bicho’, at least the more constant player on this match. From his boots came the first chance in the game: a drilling attempt that passed close to the post (26’).

The boredom of the beginning disappeared for the final fifteen minutes, because there were three goals opportunities that forced the keepers to save their teams. Iago Beceiro appeared for the first time in the game with a strong shot that visiting goalie José Ángel cleared to corner-kick (39’).

Vilalbés’ first chance in the game came at minute 43, with Óscar Martinez firing from the edge of the area, David Gómez made the save, and before the pause Bicho unleashed a shot from 25 meters that José Ángel cleared with the assist of the woodwork.

Things were slow at the beginning of the second part, but there were two things that were going to mark the game. The first was the great goal of Iago Beceiro; who picked the ball after a pass by Toni Insua in a corner-kick action and unleashed an impressive drilling shot that meant his fifth goal on the season.

A second thing that marked the second part was the muscular injury of Paulo Teles. Devesa wasn’t counting with Sidibé, Ángel and Remeseiro, while Adrián Martínez was performing at defense. Gabi Sanin should have replaced him, but Depor B already had four players from Juvenil A on the pitch (a rule on this league), so he sent winger Juanpa to replace the Portuguese man.

In this way Bicho delayed his position and joined Queijeiro at midfield. Later Devesa rectified and sent Gabi replacing Toni Insua, which moved Juanpa to perform as an offensive right-back. Álex Pérez was the last substitution taking the spot of Cańi.

The indecision opened the game though Fabril continued dominating the actions and this time having chances to define the game. A minute 67, Juanpa was assisted by Bicho and his attempt was saved by José Ángel, seven minutes later Róber headed out a corner-kick coming from the right. The locals improved, but weren’t seizing the opportunities to define the encounter.

The best of the game came within the final ten minutes, because Racing Vilalbés pushed for the equalizer, so the match became an exchange of blows. Efrén was close to score twice, in the first his attempt was saved by David Gómez (84’), four minutes later it was Uxío who saved his attempt at the goal line.

Bicho had the chance to score the second for Fabril at minute 89; the playmaker threw a free-kick and the ball hit the crossbar, and Racing Vilalbés scored the equalizer at the last minute of the stoppage time. After a serious of rebounds substitute Javi Valera pushed the ball in from close range, leaving a feeling of defeat among Fabril’s players.

Fabril have spent seven straight games without victories and are ending the first round closer to relegation than to promotion (five points above the drop zone and twelve points below the sixth place). The year 2014 will begin with the home meeting against the last place: SD Grixoa, a team that has only won one game on this season.
