Fernando Vázquez will have important casualties for the last game in the first round, this since Luisinho and Culio won’t play the game. Meanwhile, the rival is recovering Gerard Bordas, it’s second best scorer in liga.

Deportivo close on this weekend the first round in liga with the meeting against Girona FC (Riazor, Saturday, 18h00 CET). All the attention has been focused in Juan Culio, the Argentine playmaker skipped the first two training sessions in the week as he understands that his future is in Al Wasl FC. He didn’t have permission from the club and coach Fernando Vázquez doesn’t count with him for the clash.

Neither left-back/winger Luisinho is available after picking the fifth yellow card on the season, so two of the offensive motors at the team are out of the clash. Meanwhile, centre midfielder Cezary Wilk has completed three training sessions working alongside the rest of the team, but the Polish won’t have the medical okay to play until the end of the month.

Winger Álvaro Lemos is the fourth casualty for the game; he has been training apart and should join the trainings on next month after recovering from his knee injury. Finally, Antonio Núñez didn’t end Wednesday’s session due to a hamstring injury, but it’s expected that he could be available for Saturday.

Rudy has been training hard during the week anticipating the fact that he could be the substitute of Culio. On Tuesday the training session lasted two hours, but still the Portuguese winger worked for another 30 minutes, even testing the set-pieces. Since November 11 he has only played for 68 minutes in liga.

In this way there are only sixteen men available for Saturday’s game and Vázquez will be forced to pick at least two players from Deportivo B. Midfielder Paulo Teles should be one of them, while the other remains uncertain. Striker Dani Iglesias, winger Cañi and centre-back Uxío Marcos have been training with Fabril, while Bicho remains injured (grade-one muscle injury)

At Girona FC, new coach Javi López is still searching for his first victory after signing for the club at the middle of December. So far he suffered a defeat and then clinched a draw. The last victory for the Catalans occurred in November (1-2 at CD Mirandés) and the poor results lead them to the penultimate place at the standings.

However Los Albirrojos have been boosted by the news that striker Gerard Bordas is available after skipping the last game against SD Ponferradina due to illness (tonsillitis). He’s the second best scorer at the team with four goals in eighteen matches.

Centre-back Jonas Ramalho and striker Alejandro Torres should be also available after missing the last games due to injury reasons. So, the only casualty at the team is centre-back Chus Herrero, who is out with a knee injury.

Girona FC are trying to reinforce the first team during the winter market, in this sense striker Marc Fernández was training with the group in December, however the LFP has blocked any signing as there are pending demands from players asking for last season’s wages. So, in the end the arrival of the attacker was cancelled. Still, the club will try to hire two strikers and one centre midfielder in the coming weeks.
