Ángel, Toché, Ibrahim Sissoko and Jandro. Those are the main four candidates to reinforce Depor’s first team during the winter window. Meanwhile, the interest in Ibagaza seems to be fading away.

Depor are facing problems ahead of the game against UD Las Palmas; president Lendoiro and coach Fernando Vázquez were hoping to have the so-wished winter signings at the end of the week and it could be like that as at least one of them is about to land at Deportivo. But it doesn’t seem probable that they will be fit to play for this Sunday.

During the week Vázquez confessed that the club hadn’t decided yet about the names and neither the positions, but on Wednesday’s night there was a meeting between the coach and the president, something that accelerated the moves.

It is understand that the club will try to hire three players: a striker, a winger and a playmaker. The closest one to arrive is Ibrahim Sissoko (22, AS Saint-Etienne). He’s a left winger used to perform on the right. VfL Wolfsburg owe his rights and the player might arrive loaned after he failed to have more participation at French outfit AS Saint-Etienne.

After Thursday’s session coach Fernando Vázquez confirmed to reporters in Abegondo that the Galician club already has an agreement to get the player, which would be a loan spell. He also said that the player should be arriving to A Coruña in the coming hours.

Meanwhile, the chosen playmaker is Alejandro Castro Fernández ‘Jandro’ (34, Girona FC). He has been targeted by Depor as the substitute of Culio. His name was proposed by Fernando Vázquez, who knows him well from their stage at RC Celta.

The Asturian player is set to leave the Catalan club in June as he’s ending contract. Depor already contacted the agent of the player, Vicenç Amigó, something the agent himself admitted in an interview with newspaper Diario de Girona. Girona FC are not open to allow his exit, actually on Wednesday they released a press statement arguing that the player was “not transferable”. However Amigó said that the negotiations continue. In past days it was mentioned the name of Ariel Ibagaza as the possible substitute of Culio, but it seems that Jandro is now the first option.

Depor also want to sign one striker and the two candidates for the spot are Ángel Rodriguez (26, UD Levante) and José Verdú Nicolás ‘Toché (31, without club). Ángel was a target since last season and he isn’t having too many minutes at UD Levante.

The Canarian striker is ending his contract in June and it isn’t clear if he’s eager to join Depor. There are contradictory rumours, from the comment that he doesn’t want to play at Segunda to the rumour pointing out that he is requesting a two-year contract. Then, on Thursday, Vázquez admitted that the club is still negotiating.

Toché, meanwhile, has cancelled his contract with Panathinaikos FC and the club already made an approach to his agent.  The media understands that Ángel is the main target, and that Deportivo will only move for Toché if the first option fails.
