Winger Iván Cavaleiro joins Deportivo in a new loan deal with SL Benfica. He’s a young right winger that can also perform as a second striker. The player is undergoing the medicals and could join the trainings in the afternoon.

Deportivo completed on Wednesday the signing of Iván Cavaleiro, a 20-year-old winger that’s coming loaned from SL Benfica. The club was trying to hire two strikers,  but in the end it will only sign one and will complement the attacking line with the presence of Cavaleiro, who can either perform on the right or in the left wing –he’s right footed- plus been able to play as second striker.

Cavaleiro is considered to be a future promise in Portugal. He already played in all the national teams in his country, including participating in the FIFA 2013 U-20 World Cup, and in March he debuted with the senior squad during a meeting against Cameroon. The deal was closed on Wednesday and the player will undergo the medicals today. It’s even expected he can join the training session on Thursday scheduled for the afternoon (Abegondo 18h00 CET).

It’s the second loan spell negotiated with SL Benfica on this season after last week’s arrival of playmaker Luis Fariña. Previously Depor have signed other five players: left-back Roberto Canella, wingers Diogo Salomão, Isaac Cuenca and Lucas Pérez plus centre midfielder José Rodriguez.
