September is leaving Deportivo and the fans with a positive outlook: the squad is 6th on the table. But the last defeat with Levante has created some doubts about the real potential of the new project. Now, Caparrs' squad will have the chance to confirm their aspirations during October, three confrontations against direct rivals for the European competitions and the debut in the Copa Del Rey are awaiting for them.

The month will start with the confrontation against Real Sociedad in Riazor. The Basque squad is in the middle of a crisis with only one point conquered and nine goals allowed after four matches. According to the media, this poor start is one of the worst during the last decade. But Deportivo hasn't been able to defeat Real Sociedad at the Riazor during the last two campaigns (one draw and one defeat), and Caparrs' team must be careful although the Basques lost the striking potency in Nihat.

The main problem in Real Sociedad at this point is the situation with the injuries. Darko Kovacevic isn't at 100% and Morten Skoubo is facing problems in one ankle. Besides, Xabi Prieto and Fabio Felicio have been training apart during the last days and they are doubtful for Sunday's game.

Deportivo will rest fifteen days due to the EURO qualifiers and then, the first test against a direct rival will arrive: Real Betis at the Luis de Lopera. It will be a weird match since Caparrs will face his 'personal nemesis', and Depor will confront the coach that achieved its only liga title with: Javier Irureta. Jabo didn't enjoy of a good start since Betis has lost three of the four games in la liga, but the potential of his team is something to be feared. The statistics are favorable to Depor, the Galicians have only lost one match there during the last seven seasons.

Maybe the most complicated game of the month will be the visit of Atltico Madrid to Riazor. Javier Aguirre's team has had a positive start with three wins in four matches and it seems that this time Atltico is a serious contender for the European places. Once again the statistics are in favor of Depor: the Galicians have won the last five home games against the Madrilians, and the last home defeat against Atltico occurred on the season 1994/1995 (0-1).

Three days later Deportivo will start to compete in Copa del Rey. The rival is still to be announced, probably against a Segunda club. The Galicians will have to play a two-leg series. The first game will be played on October 25th and the second one will take place in November.

The month will end with the visit to the Alfonso Prez coliseum in order to face Getafe. The Madrilian club is tied with Depor with seven points and on this season, Schuster's team is more ambitious. They don't only want to maintain their place in Primera, they want to enter into European competitions. The only two matches in Primera that Depor has played there have ended with positive results: a 1-1 draw on the season 2004/2005 and a 2-1 victory during the past campaign.

Caparrs will also include friendly matches in order to follow the progress of his team. So far he has only arranged a game against Santiago de Compostela, a confrontation that will take place today. The complete list of official games in October is:

01/Oct/2006: Deportivo Vs Real Sociedad (liga)
15/Oct/2006: Real Betis Vs Deportivo (liga)
22/Oct/2006: Deportivo Vs Atltico Madrid (liga)
25/Oct/2006: Fourth round - 1st leg (copa del rey)
29/Oct/2006: Getafe Vs Deportivo (liga)
