In and out. Coach Víctor Fernández loses two players but also recovers other two. Diogo Salomão and Lucas Pérez are training with the group, but they won’t be part of the trip to Andalusia.

Deportivo search for a recovery after suffering three straight defeats and the injuries are pilling up for coach Víctor Fernández.  During the week and ahead of the visit to Sevilla CF (Sánchez Pizjuán, Sunday, 12h00 CET) the coach was able to train with 22 players from the first team, but only 20 will be available.

Three players picked injuries in the last game against UD Almeria and two of them are already ruled out of Sunday’s game. Winger Isaac Cuenca is out due to an ischialgia, which is a type of pain felt in tissues innervated by the sciatic nerve and its roots (lower back). The doctors will try to recover him during the international break.

Striker Hélder Postiga is also out after suffering a grade 1 hamstring strain, normally this kind of injury needs 2 or 3 weeks to heal and the doctors will assess his condition during the international break (the player was included in the pre-list of Portugal, but will be discharged).

These two cases are joining the casualty of centre midfielder Juan Dominguez (hamstring strain), so three men have been working apart during the week. The remaining 22 players at the first team have completed the training sessions, including playmaker Luis Fariña, who was the third man with physical problems in the last game at the Riazor. He picked a muscle injury, but was already fine by Tuesday and has completed all the sessions.

It’s expected that the list of available players will be reduced from 22 to 20 players, because two of the men currently training with the group won’t be risked: wingers Lucas Pérez & Diogo Salomão. The first joined the trainings on this week after finally surpassing a quadriceps injury, but the doctors will give him the medical okay until next week.

In the case of the Portuguese man, he joined the trainings on last week and is progressing little by little after surpassing his knee injury. On this week he was taking part of the training match in which the coach tested the formations for the game.

The player that already received the okay of the doctors is centre-back Pablo Insua. He has trained without problems since last week and sets to join the trip to Andalusia. Centre midfielder José Rodríguez didn’t end Thursday’s session as he was feeling dizzy, but will also be available and could even be a starter in the game.

The lack of offensive players moved the coach to pick winger Miguel Cardoso and attacker Marcos Remeseiro from the B squad. The duo trained with the first team on Wednesday and also on Thursday.  The other Depor B member that worked with the senior squad is goalkeeper Rafael Veloso.

Sevilla arrive to the game after the heavy loss against Atlético Madrid (0-4). Coach Unai Emery, who was a favourite of the fans after winning the Europa League last year, was suddenly criticized after he admitted that “Atlético is quite superior to Sevilla”

The Andalusians are having a very busy calendar as they had to play five games in two weeks before facing Depor. The last match took place on Thursday as Sevilla CF visited Croatian HNK Rijeka. There were many rotations at the starting team and only four men were repeating their presence at the starting team compared to the game at the Calderón: defenders Daniel Carriço and Krychowiak, plus wingers Kolodziejczak and Aleix Vidal.

So, Emery’s side is having little time to prepare the game against Depor. There are three players out for injury reasons: Argentine keeper Mariano Barbosa, Uruguayan centre midfielder Sebastián Cristóforo and French striker Kevin Gameiro

Barbosa is out since early in September due to a hamstring strain injury, while Gameiro is dragging a knee injury since the end of last season. The French attacker joined the trainings on this week and the Argentine man will do it in the coming days, but it’s too soon for them and both won’t be picked for Sunday’s match. Cristóforo, meanwhile, was operated in March due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury and won’t return until next year; actually he wasn’t inscribed by the team during the summer window.
