13 of the 20 clubs at Primera made signings during the winter window. The most active clubs in this window were the ones trying to secure the permanence. Granada made seven, Córdoba five, while Depor and Levante made four signings.

It wasn’t a busy winter window as it happened in previous years, but in the end thirteen of the twenty clubs at Liga BBVA made at least one signing in January. To mention that three of the seven clubs that didn’t secure any reinforcement were banned. FC Barcelona cannot complete any signing in this market and neither in the next summer window due to a sanction coming from FIFA.

Meanwhile, other two clubs, Getafe CF and Elche CF, are banned by the LFP and will face problems in the second part of the season in order to secure the permanence, mainly as their direct rivals were the ones that made the major incorporations.

And it’s that the four clubs that made more signings in January are targeting the permanence as their goal for the season. Granada CF completed seven, including striker Adrián Colunga and ex-Depor midfielder Rubén Pérez. The Andalusians even changed the coach as Caparrós was replaced with Abel Resino and also signed Mexican defender Miguel Layún for next season.

The second club with more signings was Córdoba CF, the Andalusians got interesting signings, including ex-Depor target Bruno Zuculini, Manchester United’s Bebe and right-back Edimar Fraga.

Deportivo is the third club in the list after completing four signings: striker Oriol Riera, midfielder Celso Borges, winger Hélder Costa and centre-back Borja López. The Galicians also signed Saúl Garcia, a left-back that will join the team during the summer.

Levante UD also made four signings, though one of them is still pending to be confirmed by FIFA: Costa Rican striker Bryan Ruiz. They also recalled ex-Depor Jason from Villarreal B. The Valencians also signed Iván Ramis, one of the targets of Depor, and attacker Kalu Uche, who was offered to president Tino Fernández before landing in Valencia.

UD Almeria and SD Eibar are also targeting the permanence and both completed two signings. The Andalusians got the loan of midfielder Javier Espinosa and the transfer of left-back José Manuel Casado. In the case of the Basques they got ex-Depor midfielder Borja Fernández and centre-back Rafa Páez.

RC Celta made one signing as the got the transfer of Belgian midfielder Théo Bongonda. And on Monday Rayo Vallecano announced the signing of striker Miku, the signing of the Venezuelan international took place when the window was already closed, but it’s allowed as he was a free agent.

The clubs fighting for the top positions also made signings. The most active one was Atlético Madrid, side that completed three incorporations: striker Fernando Torres, midfielder Cani and striker Ángel Correa, though the latter wasn’t inscribed as there was no room left for him.

Villarreal CF also made solid signings after completing the loan of striker Joel Campbell and later paying €5.7 million to RCD Espanyol for centre-back Eric Bailly. Malaga CF also made two signings, striker Javi Guerra and centre-back Egor Filipenko.

The most expensive signing during the winter window was Enzo Pérez, the “soap opera” of Valencia CF during last summer and that was finally completed in the winter window after Los Ches paid €25 million to SL Benfica. The second biggest signing was made by Real Madrid after paying almost €18 million for Brazilian midfielder Lucas Silva.

Finally, Athletic Club, RCD Espanyol, Real Sociedad and Sevilla CF didn’t complete any signing though they were able to do it. Some of these clubs attempted to secure the arrival of reinforcements, like the case of Athletic, side that tried to complete the return of Asier Illarramendi, but there was no agreement with Real Madrid.
