Deportivo are waiting for Fernando Navarro. The defender is trying to leave Sevilla CF. He’s the player that was mentioned by the sporting direction two weeks ago.

Two weeks ago (June 05), during the presentation of Juan Dominguez’s renewal, the sporting staff of Deportivo talked about signings.  It called the attention what they said about the first player that Deportivo were trying to sign.

Ernesto Bello, the technical secretary of the club, said that, “I will reveal information with the permission of the advisor: yesterday we tried to sign a player. He wants to play at Deportivo, but when that player arrived to ask for his freedom he was told that they had to wait as its only day two in the market.”

Richard Barral, the planning advisor, complemented the explanation with a phrase, “It’s a very important player from a big club.” It turns out that this player is left-back Fernando Navarro. The defender is 32 and has been playing at Sevilla CF since 2008 completing more than 200 appearances.

Now Sevilla CF are looking for another left-back and is open to allow the exit of the Catalan marksman. Sportpaper Deporte Campeón revealed on Thursday that the player asked for his freedom, but that the sporting director of Sevilla CF, Ramón Rodríguez ‘Monchi’, told him that it’s too early in the summer window and that he must stay until they find the replacement that they want.

Deporte Campeón understands that this is the player of whom Bello and Barral were talking. Actually, Bello was asked during the press conference about the specific case of Navarro and also of Getafe’s Lahcen and he avoided the question, “We won’t talk of them. They are players under contract and cannot say anything of them. I won’t say yes and neither that no.” He said.

Also, on Thursday, newspaper La Voz de Galicia wrote that Navarro is a petition of Víctor Sánchez. The Madrilenian knows pretty well Navarro as he was at Sevilla’s team when the current coach of Deportivo was the assistant of Michel.

Navarro is a highly experienced player that can also perform as a centre-back. He’s the current captain of Sevilla CF and played twice with the national team of Spain. On the season that has ended Navarro only played in the half of the 38 league matches, this since Polish/French Timothée Kolodziejczak has also played there. Sevilla CF want now to refresh the positon and Navarro is set to leave.
