The striker returns to Deportivo signing a three-year contract. The Galicians are paying a fee to Wigan. He and Luis Fernández are the only strikers at the first team at this point.

Deportivo confirmed on Tuesday the signing of striker Oriol Riera. The Catalan signs a three year-deal with the club paying an undisclosed fee to Wigan Athletic. In past weeks it was rumoured that the fee is €700,000. The Latics were expecting to collect €2 million and the distant positions delayed the operation until the past weekend.

The striker, who played before for FC Barcelona and CA Osasuna, already landed in A Coruña in order to make the pre-season stage with the first team. For now he and Luis Fernández are the only strikers at the team of Víctor Sánchez.

Riera was loaned to Depor during the past winter window. He left a positive impression to the coaching staff, though also left the feeling of been a player that fails too many opportunities to score. The striker played in all the games of the second round and scored four goals.

Riera is the fourth official signing of Deportivo after the arrivals of left-backs Saúl García and Fernando Navarro, plus centre-back Alejandro Arribas. The club also completed the renewals of centre midfielder Juan Dominguez and right-back Manuel Pablo.
