Quiet day at Plaza de Pontevedra as Depor only completed two exits. Salomão won’t join the club due to his differences with Sporting CP, while Queijeiro and Bicho were loaned out.

The last day in the transfer window was pretty quiet at Deportivo. The club only made two operations, which were two young players going out loaned. Early in the morning the big surprise of the day was that the deal for Diogo Salomão wasn’t going to happen due to problems to rescind the contract between the winger and Sporting CP. But soon president Tino Fernández stated that the club wasn’t going to hurry in order to find a replacement and that it was even possible to wait until the winter window if it was necessary.

Later the loans of Bicho and Queijeiro to CD Leganés and Pontevedra CF were confirmed; both players were already linked to those clubs, but the operations were confirmed until the last day. It was expected that Saúl García was going to be loaned out, but in the end the left-back is staying as neither CD Lugo now UD Llagostera presented convincing offers to Depor. Haris Medunjanin is also staying despite president Tino Fernández accepted on deadline day that the club was studying his possible exit.

The day started with the news that the move for Diogo Salomão was halted. During the weekend the club reported that they had an agreement with Sporting CP (free transfer with a percentage of a future sale) and with the player (1+2 year contract), but on Monday it was known that the winger and the Portuguese club hadn’t reached an agreement to rescind their contract.

During the morningTino Fernández attended reporters during the presentation of the friendly match against CD Lugo and talked of the issue, “There’s a problem in the case with Salomão, pending issues between the player and the club. For our part everything was fixed with both parties. Right now I don’t see things clear. If I would have to bet then I would say that it won’t happen.”

At the same time he was talking of a possible plan B, “There are options, there are movements in the market, because there’s budget, but we will see. We don’t feel overwhelmed, we have a complete squad and we still have the winter window. We won’t sign just for the pleasure of making a signing.”

The president also admitted that the club was searching for an exit to Haris Medunjanin, Álvaro Queijeiro and Saul Garcia, while he left open the possibility lo loan winger Miguel Cardoso. But in the end only two operations were confirmed.

The first was the loan of Javier Fernández ‘Bicho’ to CD Leganés. Last year he was loaned to Barcelona B in a two-year deal, but the winger didn’t have a good performance there and the Catalans lost interest, so the deal was cancelled and now  the 19-year-old player will remain playing at Segunda, though in Madrid.

A second and final operation that was confirmed was the loan of Álvaro Queijeiro to Pontevedra CF; the centre midfielder will have the chance to perform at Segunda B in a recently promoted club. The loan is for one season.
