DEPORTIVO IN OCTOBER

01 Oct 2015
Depor face three of the current last four places in October, but it won’t be an easy task, starting with the fact that two of those three meetings are taking place away from the Riazor. Atlético is the big rival in the month.

October will be one of the calmer months for Deportivo on this season, because there are only four official matches scheduled for the period. And it could have been only three games, but it turns out that the last game was moved to a Friday (October 30).

The Galicians are living a sweet moment and will have to face teams that are living the opposite situation, because three of the four rivals in the month are located within the last four places at the standings. The other is the all-mighty Atlético.

First to all, the visit to Granada CF, the current bottom place. The Andalusians have had a terrible start, with a negative mark of four straight losses and losing their three home matches played so fat, all of them allowing three goals: 1-3 Vs. SD Eibar, 1-3 Vs. Villarreal and 0-3 Vs, Real Sociedad.

The last five official games by Granada:

Matchday 02 GETAFE 1 GRANADA 2
Matchday 03 GRANADA 1 VILLARREAL 3
Matchday 04 REAL MADRID 1 GRANADA 0
Matchday 05 GRANADA 0 REAL SOCIEDAD 3
Matchday 06 VALENCIA 1 GRANADA 0

Then there’s a break in la liga and Depor will dispute the first home game in the month hosting Athletic Club. Like it happened last year the Basques are having a slow start to the season after only clinching one win in six games, reason why they are the border of relegation. At least they won in the debut in the UEFA Europa League.

The last five official games by Athletic:

Matchday 03 ATHLETIC 3 GETAFE 1
Europa League ATHLETIC 3 AUGSBURG 1
Matchday 04 VILLARREAL 3 ATHLETIC 1
Matchday 05 ATHLETIC 1 REAL MADRID 2
Matchday 06 REAL SOCIEDAD 0 ATHLETIC 0

The visit to Málaga CF is the penultimate challenge in the month; the Andalusians are in relegation been one of the two winless teams in liga and the only one that hasn’t scored yet. But they aren’t the last place and, curiously, had conceded lesser goals than Depor, this since they drew three times 0-0 and lost 0-1 in the other three meetings. So, it is a deceiving game.

The last five official games by Málaga:

Matchday 02 BARCELONA 1 MALAGA 0
Matchday 03 MALAGA 0 EIBAR 0
Matchday 04 GETAFE 1 MALAGA 0
Matchday 05 MALAGA 0 VILLARREAL 0
Matchday 06 REAL MADRID 0 MALAGA 0

And October ends with the hardest game in the month: the home clash against Atlético Madrid. The Madrilenians suffered a disappointment in the home loss with FC Barcelona, but won four of the other six games and are currently fifth at the standings, so they remain as the main alternative force to Barca and Real Madrid.

The last four official games by Atlético:

CL GALATASARAY 0 ATLETICO 2
Matchday 04 EIBAR 0 ATLETICO 2
Matchday 05 ATLETICO 2 GETAFE 0
Matchday 06 VILLARREAL 1 ATLETICO 0
