The club informed on Thursday that Miguel Cardoso will play loaned at CF União during the next 18 months. The winger had barely played in this season and the sporting direction believes it is the right decision to see him growing.

Miguel Cardoso will play loaned at CF União for the next 18 months. It was officially announced by Deportivo during Thursday. The club was searching for a destiny for the 21-year-old winger as he had barely played with Víctor Sánchez.

There was interest from some Segunda clubs, but the sporting direction decided that the best choice was a Portuguese club playing at the elite: Clube de Futebol União. It’s a recently promoted club that’s making a solid season so far, been 11th at the standings at Primeira Liga. He will compete for a spot before Brazilian Amilton. The coach of the team is Norton de Matos and he needs reinforcements in attack as the team has only scored 14 goals in 19 matches (the 2nd lowest in the league).

The winger talked to Radio Cadena SER and explained that, despite the 18-month deal, Depor can recall him ahead of next season, ”Depor have the option to recover me at any moment, they have the choice. If after the loan Depor want me then I would be here for other three seasons. I go out in order to gain minutes and return to Depor, which is my club.”

Cardoso landed at Deportivo during the winter window of the season 2013/14 and played for Deportivo B; in the following campaign he was the most important player in a team that spent the major part of the time in promotion seats. He performed there as a left winger and ended scoring seventeen goals plus providing ten assists.

For the current season he was promoted to the first team, though keeping the spot at Fabril. He barely played in liga (41 minutes), but impressed in the visit to FC Barcelona as he opened the reaction at the Camp Nou. In Copa Del Rey, the Portuguese was a starter in both legs against UE Llagostera and entered as a substitute in both games against CD Mirandés.

The initial idea of the club was to loan the player for six months, but the Portuguese side pressed for an additional season and in the end an agreement was reached. The exit of Cardoso will also have an impact at Fabril as it will allow the inscription of Sam Piette. The Canadian returned on this week from his loan at Racing de Ferrol and is available for coach Manu Mosquera.
