Haris Medunjanin wasn’t part of Víctor’s plans and rescinded his contract on Friday, it is a consequence in the renewal efforts for Mosquera. The Bosnian only played in Copa during this season.

Deportivo announced on Friday that Haris Medunjanin has rescinded his contract with Deportivo. It was expected as the midfielder wasn’t entering into the plans of the coach, to the point that he hadn’t played in liga after 21 matchdays and his presence was reduced to two appearances in Copa Del Rey (180 minutes in both legs against UE Llagostera).

His contract was ending in 2017 and according to the media he is leaving forgiven big part of the wages. Just two days before president Tino Fernández had said that there were no novelties in this issue, and the reason that pushed this exit is the renewal efforts of Pedro Mosquera, because the club needed to liberate space in the salary cap. It seems that Maccabi Tel Aviv FC will be his new club.

Medunjanin arrived last season to Deportivo and began as a normal starter at midfield, but was one of the players removed from the formations after the debacle of the first matchdays. Since the arrival of Borges in the winter window he became the fourth choice for midfield. So, it wasn’t strange that he only played 67 minutes in the second round until he had to be used as a starter at the Riazor facing Atlético Madrid as Borges was suspended.

Of the 209 minutes that he had in the second round, 59 took place in the last game against FC Barcelona as he replaced injured Canella. In that game he showed the character that Depor needed in order to reach the salvation, he hit the post once and took the free-kick that meant the equalizer and he permanence.

This is the fourth move of Deportivo during the winter window, before the club made one signing: keeper Stipe Pletikosa, while two lads went out on loan: left-back Saúl García and left winger Miguel Cardoso.
