Víctor loses Sidnei in a week with three liga games, Lucas and Cani are back, while Arribas will be available. The first two rivals, Granada and Athletic, are living opposite seasons.

Busy week for Deportivo as the Galician team will face three liga meetings in a matter of six days. It all starts on Sunday as Depor host Granada CF (Riazor, 18h15 CET), then the team travels on midweek in order to face Athletic Club (San Mamés, Wednesday, 20h00 CET) and closes the week returning to the Riazor in order to face Málaga CF (Saturday, 22h05 CET).

Several good news and a very terrible news have surrounded the team during the week. The terrible news is that, after leaving the pitch against Espanyol, the scans made to Sidnei Rechel detected a grade-2 muscle injury on his right leg; the Brazilian will be sidelined for at least one month, meaning that he will miss five games.

The good news is that two of the four players that missed the game with RCD Espanyol are back into contention, starting with Lucas Pérez, the top-scorer of the team is back and ready to play after surpassing a Soleus injury. Cani (thigh) is also back in training, though he hasn’t received yet the medical okay to play.

Juan Dominguez (tonsillitis) missed the game against RCD Espanyol, then he joined the trainings at the beginning of the week, but skipped the session on Thursday due to a hamstring problem, so he is doubtful for Sunday’s match.

Meanwhile, Alejandro Arribas picked a knock during the past game in liga and skipped the first training session of the week, but by Wednesday he had already joined the group. So, for now, the only player that will remain out together with Sidnei is goalkeeper Fabricio Agosto (knee).

Five lads from Depor B trained with the team during the week: David Gómez, Róber, Manu Silva, Hugo Rama and Marcos Legaz. Centre-back Róber has big options to be picked for the next two games and even has chances to play as a starter taking the available spot at the centre of the defence, this no matter he skipped the past three games with Depor B due to a thigh problem.

The first two rivals in the week are living very different situations, Granada CF have lost five of its last six games and is currently the bottom club in liga, reason why José Ramón Sandoval was fired early on the week and the new coach is José González, who just directed his first training on Wednesday.

The Andalusians are desperate for the three points and will arrive tot the meeting with two casualties: centre midfielders Javi Marquéz and Rubén Pérez, the first is out with a Soleus injury, while the ex-Depor player is suspended. Italian Cristiano Biraghi was dragging a muscle problem, but he joined the trainings on Wednesday.

Granada CF were among the most active clubs in the winter window, they hired five men and released other four. Among the signings are attacker David Barral and ex-Depor winger Isaac Cuenca, both men have played some minutes without having any impact in the last results.

Meanwhile Athletic Club have chained two straight losses, but they are very alive in the quest for Europe been only three points below the sixth positon. This is a busy part on the season for the Basques as they reached the quarterfinals in Copa Del Rey and are currently taking part of the Europa League last-32 round.

On Thursday they were facing Olympique de Marseille and will arrive to the meeting against Depor after playing 15 official meetings in 2016, four more than Deportivo. The good thing is that the team isn’t feeling any effect for the busy agenda as there aren’t critical injuries, the only player out is attacker Ibai Gómez, who has been out since October due to a series of muscle problems. Offensive midfielder Raúl García is suspend, but will fulfil the ban during this weekend’s visit to Valencia CF.
