Deportivo will be forced to go to the transfer market for the final days in the window, with Lucas about to be announced at Arsenal FC, the club searches for a striker. Sidnei is staying.

The transfer window closes its doors at midnight on Wednesday; Deportivo had already completed the squad for the new season and the Galician outfit was expecting to live a tranquil end of summer, but the interest coming from the outside in two players changed the picture.

Because Everton FC came from Lucas Pérez and Valencia CF did the same for Sidnei Rechel. Both cases had a different ending with the striker leaving and with the Brazilian centre-back staying.

Everton FC were open to pay the release clause of Lucas, but in the end the Galician attacker preferred the option of Arsenal FC, side that already paid the €20 million and that’s only pending to make the official announcement on Monday or Tuesday.

The exit of the best attacker at Depor in recent years leaves the club in a difficult position, because it is necessary to find a replacement with only a handful number of days in the market and with all the club not open to listen to offers, especially for their best players.

For now, some names have been mentioned as possible replacements; the main one is Stoke's striker José Luis Mato ‘Joselu’ (26), who isn’t part of the plans of coach Mark Hughes. He cost €6 million and could arrive on loan.

Meanwhile, Sidnei is staying despite the moves made by Valencia CF. Los Ches offered €10 million to SL Benfica, club that together with Gestifute had the 65% of his rights, but Depor had the right to match any offer and, after the Portuguese club informed that they were accepting the proposal, the Galicians counteracted and informed that they were matching the offer and thus bought the remaining 65%. Deportivo have now to pay €6.5 million in the next four years and the player will sign a new contract having a release clause of €20 million.
