One of the worst derbies in recent years with only a few chances to score, Pepe Mel failed with the planning of the game and also the changes never worked out.

The six notes from the derby against RC Celta:

1- Poor derby: It was one of the worst derbies in recent times, only nine opportunities to score and only four shots on target (two for each side). RC Celta paid the price for the sacrifice of been playing twice a week and didnít look fine in attack, while Depor chose a conservative approach spending more time waiting for the rival at their side of the pitch. Itís the match with less shots on target in which Deportivo have participated on this season.

2- Hit and miss: Since the game missed emotion and chances, it was destined to end 0-0 or with a victory by one goal, the latter happened as Depor were unable to capitalize the triple chance at the start of the second half, while Celta seized its best opportunity as Iago Aspas took advantage of the distraction by Albentosa.

3- Bad planning of the game: Pepe Mel had a deep impact in the past four games, but in this match all his decisions were wrong. He chose a figure with three centre midfielders [plus Fajr acting as a winger] that never worked, he defended his decision saying that wanted to avoid the numeric disadvantage at midfield as Celta also played with three centre midfielders, but his team still missed the ball possession and later was insignificant in attack.

Without a commander to light the way in attack, Depor returned to the figure of the first matchdays as Juanfran ended to be the beacon of the team regarding the output of the ball. He ended the game as the player with more touches at Depor (78), the problem is that this figure isnít enough to create scoring opportunities as the team ends depending too much of the crosses into the area, something that also happened in the first matches with Garitano.

4- Poor contribution from the substitutes: Another error by Pepe Mel was to delay the changes, the entry of Carles Gil for Bruno Gama improved the game of Depor, but it wasnít enough and he lasted too much with the other changes, by the time that Andone and «olak entered it was too late, actually both barely touched the ball (8 touches for the Romanian attacker and 7 for the Turkish playmaker). Definitely, a terrible game for Deporís new coach.

5- The position of Borges: Celso Borges was in the spotlight as he performed as a playmaker, at times he was switching the positon with Fajr. Truly Depor missed depth, but the Central American midfielder was among the best players, completing two shots (one of them on target) and having a decent passaging ratio (92%). The problem was that he wasnít receiving the ball too often and only made 44 touches.

6- Equal record in the derbies: With this victory Celta and Deportivo have now won 25 derbies at Primera, which converts the Galician derby into the most equal one among the big derbies in Spain. This is also the fifth time in which Celta win both derbies at Primera during one single season (it also happened during the campaigns 1946/47, 1971/72, 2006/07 & 2014/15)
