MATCHDAY 32: GAP AT THE BOTTOM

19 Apr 2017
The victory of Deportivo is leaving the relegation as a fight between four clubs, while the situation at the top didn’t change with the leaders winning their meetings.

Six matchdays are remaining in la liga, but nothing is decided at the top after the results had in matchday 32. And it’s that the leaders won their games again and the scenario remains the same. Real Madrid played with substitutes and suffered until the end, they needed a last-minute goal by Isco to beat Sporting Gijón on the road (2-3).

FC Barcelona also suffered with their starters, but got the three points hosting Real Sociedad (3-2). Easier was the situation for Atlético Madrid as Los Colchoneros beat last place CA Osasuna at the Calderón stadium (3-0). Meanwhile, Sevilla CF remain fourth despite a tasteless 0-0 visiting Valencia CF.  These four sides seem destined to play the next Champions League.

Meanwhile, things are tight among the clubs trying to qualify for the Europa League. Villarreal CF lost visiting Deportivo Alavés (2-1) Athletic Club jumped into the sixth place after a demolishing 5-1 win over UD Las Palmas. Real Sociedad are now seventh, only two points above SD Eibar, the latter wasted a great chance to be seventh after losing at Real Betis (2-0). These three Basque clubs are fighting to get the two spots that mean a qualification for the next edition of the Europa League.

The other team entering the race is RCD Espanyol, the Catalans have won three of the last four games, and their latest win was during the visit to CD Leganés, a 0-1 success with a goal by Léo Baptistão n the stoppage time, the result leaves them only four points away from Europe. The defeat of Villarreal CF meant that the fight for the two spots in Europa League are hotter than ever before, because there are only five points separating the fifth from the ninth place.

Meanwhile the Galicians returned to winning ways beating RCD Espanyol (2-0) and extended their lead with relegation to nine points.

Granada CF changed the coach, but the arrival of Tony Adams just made things harder as his debut was a painful 0-3 loss hosting RC Celta. CA Osasuna could be certifying their demotion on next week depending of the combination of results.
