Deportivo already have two goalkeepers, but it isn’t content with what they offer and is already searching for a starting option. Diego Alves is the last man that joined the list of candidates.

During the week coach Pepe Mel recognized that one of the five positions that the club wants to reinforce is the goal. German Lux left, but Deportivo still have two goalkeepers: Przemysław Tytoń and Rubén Martínez.

But the sporting direction is not happy with them and is ready to at least release one of them, while they search in the market for a starting choice. Sevilla’s David Soria was a strong candidate, but later the option fell apart as new coach Eduardo Berizzo wants to see him in the pre-season before deciding what to do with him.

Davy Roef said on last week that he is open to return, while it was also known that Depor are chasing Joel Robles, the 27-year-old keeper from Everton FC that will leave the Premiership during the summer, then on Saturday there were strong rumours pointing to Brazilian Diego Alves.

The reports from Valencia say that he will leave as coach Marcelino doesn’t want him and as they signed Nuno for the position. 32-year-old Alves wants a chance at Brazil’s national team ahead of the World Cup and knows that need a starting role in team from the elite. One of the rumours is that Depor are negotiating a loan, but there are other reports pointing that the keeper could rescind with Los Chés.

What’s clear for now is that movements are expected to occur at the goal, a position that hasn’t been well covered in recent seasons, and it’s that since Aranzubia left, no goalkeeper at Depor has kept the starting spot for more than a handful number of games.
