The club continues in the quest for a new striker. And now two new candidates have been added to the list: Fernando Cavenaghi and Cristian Fabbiani. Both are Argentineans and according to the Spanish media, Deportivo already made the first contacts with their former clubs.

As deportivo-la-coruna.con informed previously, the club already has five candidates in order to reinforce the striking zone: Mariano Pavone (24), Gonzalo Bergessio (22), Marco Gast??n Rub?©n (20), Oscar Cardozo (23) and Mauro Z??rate (19). This five names were published by Depor Sport. Now sportpapers Marca and AS have wrote that the club has added two names to this list: Cavenaghi and Fabbiani. Both of them are Argentineans and apparently Depor already made the first contacts with their clubs. The following is a resume in both cases:

Fernando Cavenaghi (23): He was an idol in River Plate and was appointed as one of the rising stars in Argentina. He scored 22 goals in the year 2002, at that time he was only 18. Cavenaghi was dreaming to arrive to Europe and he fulfilled the dream in July of 2004 when Spartak Moscow paid US$11.5 million for him (€8.76 million). But he never got used to the Russian league, 'El Torito' only scored 12 goals in 51 matches and lost his place in the starting lineup.

Frustrated with the situation, Cavenaghi started to push for an exit and the officials of the Russian club decided that it's the best thing for everybody. They are formally offering the player and it has been appointed that Spartak Moscow wants to obtain €8 million in the operation. And the interest of Deportivo in Cavenaghi has been confirmed by sportpapers AS and Marca. The price is too high for the economy of Depor, but according to this papers, the club is negotiating a loan spell with a buyout clause in order to incorporate the player.

The same Cavenaghi is seeing with good eyes a possible arrival to Deportivo, As his agent, N?©stor S?vori, said to Marca: "It's an honor that a club like Deportivo is looking at Fernando. He has asked for an exit in order to go to Spain. The response was affirmative and we are only waiting for the confirmation. I know that Depor is trying to sign a loan spell for one and a half year, a deal that will include a buyout clause. Less time is something that isn't interesting us."

Cristian Fabbiani: (23). He started with Palestino in the year 2004, one year later he signed for Lan??s and immediately, Fabbiani started to shine. The striker scored eight goals in fourteen matches during the Torneo Apertura 2005 and Torneo Clausura 2006. His capacity to score goals is based in his good physical presence (one of his nicknames is 'the fat') and also in his skills to manage the ball.

But the main problem of Fabbiani is his strong character (his second nickname is 'Shrek' or 'the ogre'). He was sent off in four opportunities and the fans became angry with him when the striker saw a red card during an important game against Independiente, Fabbiani made a tough tackle although the rival didn't have the ball. The officials of Lan??s decided to punish him. He was sent in a loan spell to Beitar Jerusalem (Israel) where he has spent the last six months.

The vice-president of Lan??s, Nicol??s Russo, confirmed to AS that one official of Deportivo called him in order to get information about the status of Fabbiani. Russo said that "The player will only go out from Lan??s in a sell operation" and that his club isn't  thinking in a loan spell. But he didn't gave any ammount.
