Ultimatum for Pepe Mel, who is still missing four players. Getafe CF arrive after a sweet victory, but facing important casualties in attack.

It’s only matchday 07 in la liga as Deportivo entertain Getafe CF at the Riazor (Saturday, 13h00 CET), but it can be called a final as it could be the last game of Pepe Mel as the head coach of Deportivo. The fans are very unhappy and even the win could not be enough if the team doesn’t show a convincing performance.

The Madrilenian coach is still missing four players; keeper Rubén Martínez (thumb), centre midfielder Pedro Mosquera (thigh) and striker Adrián López (hamstring) are not expected until October, while playmaker Carles Gil will not be available before Christmas.

Taking in mind the circumstances Mel could be tempted to try something new, but until Thursday he didn’t give any clue about a possible lineup for the game, on Friday the team trains behind closed doors at the Riazor though.

Getafe CF were refreshed by the big win over Villarreal CF (4-0), but coach José Bordalás is facing an important list of casualties for the meeting with Depor, more specifically six men are out of the match. Striker Dani Pacheco needed surgery to correct a shoulder problem, while Japanese Gaku Shibasaki suffered a fissure in the past game with FC Barcelona.

The problems in attack became bigger as winger Jefferson Montero picked a muscle problem on this week and is missing the trip to the Riazor. Midfielder Fayçal Fajr is also out, the Moroccan left Depor in the summer and signed for free, but in order to allow his exit Depor included a stipulation about a clause to be paid if he plays against the Galicians (€300,000), and the Madrilenians won’t fulfill it.

There are also concerns in defence as third keeper Filip Manojlović and centre-back Nicolás Gorosito haven’t been able to debut on this season due to injuries that haven’s been specified and that will sideline them for the game with Depor. At least left-back Mathias Olivera will have the chance to debut after surpassing a shoulder problem.
