Deportivo are hurrying up the options to sign a new goalkeeper, the latest error of Rubén has finally convinced the club about the need of a new goalie. David Soria seems to be the main option.

One of the biggest errors of the sporting direction for this season was to believe that the goal of Deportivo didn’t need a reinforcement. Last season the performance of German Lux was criticized, the Argentine left the club, but the officials decided to rely in Przemysław Tytoń and Rubén Martínez, the latter suffered a toe injury one day before the summer window was closed, and only then the club decided to make a signing, and it was a bad choice: Costel Pantilimon.

By matchday 07, former coach Pepe Mel was already calling Fabril’s Francis Uzoho as he didn’t trust in the keepers at the first team, by the end of the first round the keepers of Depor have committed five errors that lead to a goal, while the team has the fourth worst ratio of shots needed by the rivals in order to score a goal (6.65).

Inexplicably, the club’s officials resisted and didn’t want to admit that to reinforce the position was a priority, it was until the latest error from Rubén in the game with Valencia CF that the sporting direction is admitting the problem and started to hurry up the options to sign a new goalkeeper.

Right now the main option to join Deportivo is David Soria (24, Sevilla CF). Former Sevilla’s coach Berizzo was rotating the position with Sergio Rico, so Soria was normally performing in the home game and thus added seven appearances in liga, but the Argentine coach was fired and new boss Montella already said that he won’t rotate and that the starter at the goal will be Rico.

So, Soria wants to leave and Deportivo already contacted the keeper, who on this week told to Deporte Campeón that, "I will like to play for Deportivo. It's one of the most important clubs in la liga and have a good squad. I believe they have lesser points of the ones they deserve."

La Voz de Galicia reported on Wednesday that Depor already contacted Sevilla CF and that the initial agreement a final transfer that for now depends on the Andalusians finding a replacement. This could cause a delay that can break the deal as Depor want a new keeper as soon as possible.

Other options coming out in the papers are Rafael Cabral (27, Napoli), Sergio Romero (30, Manchester United) and Diego López (36, RD Espanyol). The latter was one of the preferred options at Depor, but it’s now considered as a remote possibility as the Catalans have faced unexpected problems to renew Pau López and won’t allow the exit of the Galician keeper during the winter window.
