Bitter season for the ladies, the team had incredible numbers, but could only end second in their group. So, the gals are again missing the train of the promotion.

Depor Ladies completed their second season at Segunda División, it cannot be said that it was bad as their numbers were great. The problem is that they missed the goal of reaching the promotion playoff to the elite. And that taking in mind that it only failed in two games.

The gals played 26 league meetings, they won 24, only drew once (2-2 at CD Monte) and only lost once (0-2 Vs. Real Oviedo). They scored 155 goals and only allowed 11. Only one team can take part of the promotion round to the elite, and that team will be Real Oviedo, side that added 75 points after winning 25 of the 26 games (their only defeat was against Depor (0-1).

The club was aware that the promotion is very difficult, for this reason the plan was to build up a young team that can earn experience and get the ticket to the elite in the mid-term, but still the feeling is of disappointment as the team spent several months in the first place and as the defeat with Oviedo only came four matchdays before the end

The top-scorer on the season was Ainize Barea ‘Peke’ with 26 goals in favour, followed by Gaby García (24), Jone Bilbao (17), Estefi Pabst (16) and Lourdes Moreno ‘Kika’ (10).

The team continued to have the base of the previous season with keeper Malena Mieres, defender Miriam Ríos, midfielder Tere Abelleira and striker Nuria Rábano, this time reinforced by Venezuelans Gaby and Kika.

The effort done by the club has been noticed by the Spanish federation, and now it’s normal to see Depor’s gals picked by the U-17 and U-20 national teams. Actually, keeper Malena Mieres and striker Nuria Rábano are training this week with U-20 Spain as thy prepare the next U-20 FIFA World Cup.
