Deportivo visit the Nuevo Arcángel stadium pushing to enter into the first two places. Natxo has his four strikers available against the worst defence at Segunda.

Referee: Saúl Ais Reig
Kick-off: 20h00 CET (Nuevo Arcángel)

Córdoba CF have conceded 21 goals after the first 9 matchdays, it’s the worst mark of this century at Segunda División. It’s necessary to go back to the campaign 1996/97 in order to find a similar number: Atlético Madrid B (21).

Meanwhile, Deportivo have more stable stats. The Galicians are the third best defence in the league after conceding 7 goals in the period, mark only below AD Alcorcón (3) and Málaga CF (4). Los Blanquiazules are also the second-best offensive line with 15 goals scored, mark only below Granada CF (17).

Historically, Deportivo have always suffered visiting Córdoba CF playing in la liga; and it’s that the Galicians only got 6 draws in their first 13 visits to the old and new El Arcángel stadium, but things changed in recent decades and Depor have won 3 of the last 4 games played there; actually they have a mark of 6 straight visits without losing against the Andalusians.

Coach Natxo González has the tough job to choose who will be the couple in attack; he has his four strikers available and the four of them were picked for the meeting, the coach must decide between two men that are pushing to have more opportunities (Christian Santos and Borja Valle), and other two that have been on fire (Quique González and Carlos Fernández).

The coach didn’t make proper tests during the week, but it’s expected that he will give the role of starters to Quique and Carlos, the first is the shared top-scorer at Segunda with six goals into his count, while the latter is coming after netting four goals in the last wo games.

The entry of Quique is one of the two changes expected for the game at the Nuevo Arcángel, the other is entry of Vicente Gómez. The Canarian was rested against Elche CF and is now fitter to play after surpassing an injury.

Team news: Fede Cartabia and Sebastián Dubarbier remain at the injury room. Didier Moreno joined the team on Friday, but the coach left him out of the game. The other players out for tactical reasons are Gerard Valentín, Pedro Sánchez and Eneko Bóveda.

Man to watch: Striker Carlos Fernández. The Andalusian is coming after scoring a hat-trick against Elche CF and wants to demonstrate that he can compete with Quique González for the top spot at Deportivo.

Picked players: (18) Dani Giménez, Adrián Ortolá (goalkeepers); David Simón, Pablo Mari, Domingos Duarte, Michele Somma, Saúl García, Diego Caballo (defenders); Edu Expósito, Álex Bergantiños, Pedro Mosquera, Krohn-Dehli, Vicente Gómez, Carles Gil (midfielders); Quique González, Carlos Fernández, Christian Santos & Borja Valle (attackers)

Predicted lineup: (4-3-1-2) Dani Giménez – David Simón, Pablo Mari, Domingos Duarte, Saúl – Álex Bergantiños, Vicente Gómez, Krohn-Dehli – Carles Gil – Quique González, Carlos Fernández.

The situation is pretty complicated at Córdoba CF, both sportingly and economically. The club made a big effort in the winter window in order to survive on last season, and they did it led by coach José Ramón Sandoval, but the price might be too high. They exceeded the salary cap of last campaign and suffered a deduction for this season as a consequence.

In the end their salary cap is the third lowest in the league (€3.9 million), and more problems arrived this week, CA Osasuna informed that they presented a demand in la liga for the unpaid transfer of Jaime Romero (€500,000), which will only make things worse as la liga could end up blocking the Andalusian club.

And the sporting situation isn’t better, the team wasn’t reinforced properly due to these problems and the result is to be the worst defence at Segunda on this century. José Ramón Sandoval is no longer the savior of last season and could be sacked if they don’t defeat Depor.

Team news: Sandoval will release the roster until Saturday, then he will decide if winger Alejandro Alfaro is fit to play. In any case he should start on the bench. Centre-backs Jesús Valentín (muscle injury) and Aythami Artiles (suspension) are out of the game.

Man to watch: Striker Federico Piovaccari. The Italian attacker is the main scorer at the team with three goals in favour, and two of those goals came in the last two matches in liga facing UD Almería and CA Osasuna.

Picked players: Roster to be released until Saturday

Predicted lineup: (4-4-2) Carlos Abad - Loureiro, Luis Muñoz, Álex Quintanilla, Quezada - Álex Vallejo, Bambock, Aguado, Jaime Romero – Jovanović, Piovaccari.
