The first operation of the winter window is the exit of Gerard Valentín; the right-back will play loaned at CD Lugo until the end of the season.

The club announced late on Tuesday that it has reached an agreement with CD Lugo for the loan of Gerard Valentín. The deal is for the rest of the season and doesn’t include a buyout option. This is the first operation completed by Deportivo during the winter market.

The right-back only played 90 minutes in liga during the first round (0-0 draw at Rayo Majadahonda) and was also a starter in Copa Del Rey against Real Zaragoza. The reason for his exit is that coach Natxo González has two other options for the position: David Simón and Eneko Bóveda, and the coach has always preferred these players.

President Tino Fernández explained the same day that the club is only open to make signings during the window if someone is leaving, but this operation doesn’t mean that a new singing will be made, because the move is only helping to release a slot and it isn’t affecting the plans of having two players per position.
