New defeat for a sad Fabril, the rival didn’t do too much, but it was effective enough to cause a new big loss for the lads.

Coach Sergio Pellicer was able to count with Jonathan Montiel, who was concentrated with the first team for the home game against CD Tenerife. In the end the playmaker was dropped for the final list and made the trip to Ponferada, though he started on the bench.

The coach returned to the 4-2-3-1 formation. Álex Cobo was the starting goalie, Jorge Valín covered the right side in defence, Juanmi Carrión played on the left, Raúl González and Steve One were the centre-backs. Carlos López and Arturo Segado were the centre midfielders, Ignacio Abeledo attacked from the left wing, Víctor García did it from the right, Bicho was the playmaker and Guillermo May was the centre forward.

The rival for the game was SD Ponferradina, the fourth place in the group that, despite their position, arrived to the game after only adding one victory in its previous six games. Coach Jon Andoni ‘Bolo’ was relying in Yuri de Souza for the goals, the veteran attacker is the top-scorer of the group after netting 14 goals.

Fabril had some chances, but it lost against an effective rival that scored in its best opportunities. The game started with the locals having the initiative and scoring the goal in the fist chance in the game. Matthieu stole the ball at midfield and drilled a pass that left Yuri de Souza alone inside the area to score past Álex Cobo.

There was no reaction from Fabril and SD Ponferradina were close to score the second goal, Matthieu collected the ball a the edge of the area and released a strong shot that was deflected by Álex Cobo (15’)

Fabril’s first approximation came at minute 21, it was a play in a lateral free-kick that ended with May sending the ball over the crossbar. The locals replied with their own lateral free-kick that ended with a wide shot from Ríos Reina (27’).

Then it came the polemic call of the game. Abeledo fell inside the area and the visiting team protested the penalty, the referee didn’t whistle anything, and in the following play, the second goal arrived. Dani Pichín released a cross from the left and Yuri collected the ball inside the area to score from close range.

The second half started with a substitution as Montiel was replacing Bicho. Abeledo completed the first shot on target in the game by Fabril, the attempt was blocked by local goalie Gianfranco Gazzaniga (49’)

Depor’s lads were looking better in this half, though Yuri was close to score again after connecting a cross of Rios Reina, Álex Cobo was already defeated, but his final shot missed the target (57’).

The second substitution at Fabril was the entry of Uxío Dapena for Víctor García. Fabril were having big problems moving forward, and that taking in mind that SD Ponferradina were already content with the result and were no longer attacking.

But the third goal arrived anyways, it was a strange volley from right-back Francisco Javier ‘Son’ and his curved shot went directly into the top-corner of Álex Cobo. Immediately the locals could have sored the fourth goal, this time Álex Cobo made the save against Dani Pichín (72’).

The last substitution at Fabril was the entry of Leto for May. Montiel had the last two chance for Fabril in the game; in the first he found a loose ball at the edge of the area, but his shot went over the crossbar (83’), and later attempted a strong shot that was blocked by Gianfranco (84’)

More misery for Fabril. SD Ponferradina had five chances and scored thee goals, while Depor’s lads had three and failed to score, the result could have been different if the penalty over Abeledo would have been whistled, just before the second goal arrived. The team remains as the last place at the standings and the next game is the visit of Burgos CF to Abegondo (Sunday, 12h00 CET)

Comments by Pellicer: “The game was unbalanced in an error that we committed, the first goal came in that way and sine then we were disordered. Things were uphill with the 2-0. The team had its moments, but we are penalized for our errors at both areas.”

Ponferradina: (4-2-3-1) Gianfranco – Son, Ríos Reina, Jon García, Zabaco – Óscar Sielva, Dani Pichín (Saúl Crespo 75’) – Larrea, Jorge García (Isaac Palazón ‘Isi’ 58’), Matthieu (Carlos Bravo 75’) – Yuri.
